The screen showed Hannah’s face. Her eyes were red rimmed and her face rather blotchy. Her breath shuddered painfully through her lungs and past her aching heart. Her hands began to move, conveying her message, not trusting her voice.
I’m sorry Daniel. I can’t…I can’t stay here. You are the love of my life, and I will always wait for you. I just can’t watch someone else live in our home when I don’t even know what happened to you. They took you away from me! Again! No one will tell me what happened. They say you took a transfer to a new ship, but no one will tell me where and your file has been classified and you aren’t listed as being posted anywhere. I hope you saved Jepson. I know he was important to you.
I took a new assignment, on a colony, Oed V. 10 to 20 thousand Star Fleet personnel. I will be so busy maybe I won’t have time to hurt so much. All your things were packed up and shipped. They even shipped all your beer. I asked the quarter master, he said he was ordered to send it all to your ranch. You would have told me if that was where you were going, right?
So, anyway. I…I guess at least this time I have somewhere to send my letters. Daniel, please, where ever you are, be safe, and when you come home, find me.

Hannah raised a pair of flat metal, wrapped in rubber pieces hanging on a chain. They were called Dog Tags, and Daniel had left them with her, again. She kissed them and then the screen went blank.
