She took the lift to the top floor and turned left and entered the penthouse sweet. The first thing she noticed was the view. Half the windows faced open space and if her orientation was correct, the wormhole as well. The other half faced the Garden at the top of the station. An outdoor view of nature inside a space station was impressive.

Mike came out of the bedroom and said “I guess they’ll just let anybody in this joint. But if you are the escort I requested to accompany me for dinner… the concierge has great taste.”

Mike

Revna turned and looked at him. “Oh the concierge didn’t send me.” She started walking towards him, setting her bag down as she passed a chair. “I heard there was a famous musician up here, and I am such a fan, so,” she gave a flirtatious shrug, “I snuck up here.” She put her arms over his shoulders, leaning in.

Revna

He laughed and said “Well you better get outta here before my wife gets here. ‘Cause she will mess you up, tryin’ ta put the moves on me.” and he smiled and kissed her. “Oh wait… it is you. And gere you tried to play the ‘groupie’. You’re too classy for that.”

Mike

“Well we better make it quick before she gets here.” Revna kissed him back, smiling, “I’ll take lessons from Runa on how to be a convincing ‘groupie’. Something about tossing bras at you.” Revna laughed. She was never going to let her sister live that down. “So you wanna start with sandwiches or desert?”

Revna

“Sandwiches, dammit woman.” he said sternly but with a smile. “Someone slept through the last day and a half of packing, and the other is starving.” He jetted his chin to the dining area and said “Food and drinks on the table. You serve, I’m gonna wash up.” and he walked back into the bedroom.

Mike

Revna laughed and moved into the dinning area, but not before she let her hands squeeze his backside. “Hurry up. I’ll even promise to let you sleep in peace after.” She took the food out and made quick work of serving up both meals on a plate and then found and poured two glasses of mead. She lifted hers and took a sip, closing her eyes as the flavor and scent rushed over her senses and brought back memories.

Revna

Mike came back out and said “So we are focused so much on the future, let’s talk ‘past’ for a minute.” He took a drink and picked up his sandwich, a modified sub with all kinds of meats and vegetables from the Delta. “What are you gonna miss about this place? This quadrant?”

Mike

“From this place? The station? The Eclipse Bar. Our first home together, even though I wasn’t in it as much as I should have been. The quadrant? The people. Meeting them, learning about them, especially when we got to visit their worlds and immerse ourselves in their cultures. They are all exceedingly different, but rich and vibrant in their own right. What about you. What will you miss?” She picked up her sandwhich which was like a pita but filled with a robust roit vegetable from Pendari, but was high in protein and tasted like pork.

Revna

“The apartment. I really liked it. And it was the first place we had our stuff all together. Oh, and the bar here on level eleven. Great place to have a beer.” Mike said as he tore into his sandwich.

Mike

“We’ll get a beer from there before we leave.” Revna ate until her sandwich was gone. She picked up the mead and held it in one hand while she sipped at it. “I think what I like most about this place is the community. All the different people and cultures moving around and meshing together in unexpected ways.”

Revna

“From what I have read and been told, I get the impression Oed is very similar in that respect.” Mike said. “With a dash of criminality and stubbornness to spice things up a bit.” and he laughed.

Mike

Revna laughed, “And rough, not just at the edges. I think it will be a good place for the clan to make a new beginning. For awhile everyone will be focused on basic needs, not quite survival, but necessities. There will be some growing pains, but those will mostly come after. But we have three months to lay some basic plans, but more importantly to just be us.”

Revna

“Now that sounds like a great plan.” and he smiled at her. “I mean, I kinda dug the whole ‘Working with my wife’s boss and doing the whole relationship massager’ thing for a few months. But it did get old. And I felt like a thing S’Tek was using instead of being a part of anything. But… now we get to just be us. And then we get to be us on our own terms with the family. I can’t think of anything better right now.”

Mike

And that was exactly why Revna had been so pi$$ed at the “suggestion” in the letter they had received with their apartment. She reached over and set her hand over his, meeting his gaze. “I’m sorry, Mike. I should have gone and talked to S’Tek anyway.” And by talk she meant make him feel like a naughtiest illogical child ever born to Vulcan and put him in his place.

“Yeah, family…sounds great until you realize that includes Runa and Ragna.” Revna grinned. She would have given everything to stay on Earth after their wedding. That time with them all together had been amazing and Revna was almost impatientvto get back to it. “Seamus and Capall are amazing. I am going to owe them for eternity for putting up with my sisters. Then again, you McKenzie boys chose this.”

Revna

Mike shook his head and said “Nope. I chose you. And Seamus chose Ragna. And Runa kinda absconded with Capall, but hey… it worked out. The rest was just icing ion the cake.” He paused for a moment and then said “Actually, I think that black ram of Seamus’s chose Ragna and Seamus was kinda part of the deal.” and he laughed loudly.

Mike

“I think you may be right. Ragna told me that ram wouldn’t let her get 100 feet from Seamus’ gate. Turned her all around every which way until the storm let loose. She the rain was so thick she didn’t have any other choice, then the migraine started.” Revna paused and grinned, “I gotta ask though. Seamus named him Angus. Did he name him after you?”

Revna

Mike looked at her and said “We don’t talk about how the ram got his name, wife. Mind your business.” and then he turned and walked out of the room. “And I’ll never tell!” he cried from the other room.

Mike

Revna leaned back, propping her feet up, ankles crossed as he left the room. There was a story there. Who could she ask? Ragna! She could ask Tara. Tara would tell Ragna anything. Oh, not Ragna she already left Earth. Runa? Hmmm Capall likely didn’t know, and Tara may or may not tell Runa anything. BLAIRE!! Runa and Blaire were two of a kind and got unto all kinds of trouble together.

“You are my business! But alright then, what do suggest we do or talk about?”

Revna

There was a long pause and then Mike strode into the room. His clothes, however, had stayed behind. He looked at her and said “Well… I kinda had an idea about the bed in the other room.” and he winked at her.

Mike

Copper flecked eyes drank him in as butterflies and a telling flush started in her core and raced outwards through her entire body. Gods she couldn’t stand it when he winked at her like that. Revna would happily admit to being radiantly in love with him. Oh but that look was trouble, and foolishly, Revna liked it.

Her feet dropped to the floor and she stood. Walking carefully around him, just out of reach. “Oh I know what that means - trouble. Last time you had an idea about a bed and looked at me that way, my corset ended up laced to a bed post with me still wearing it.” She was flushed and looked far too happy about the memory. “You are trouble, Michael McKenzie.”

Revna

“I am… and you are wasting the thirty second head start I’m giving you.” he said with a grin. “Either you take off those clothes or I do. And I see a lot of things that can attach to other things in that outfit. Twenty… nineteen… eighteen…”

Mike

Revna laughed quickly. “You say that like I should be scared.” She turned and walked back to the table and lifted the bottle of mead, “I think I might need more of this though.” She poured another full glass, then switched the bottle for the glass and took a long drink, letting the time run out.

Revna

Mike finished counting down and then said “Well, you were warned…” and he moved to her with a speed surprising for a man his size. He grabbed her and lifted her off the floor, drink and all, and threw her over his shoulder. “C’mon… we may not be having kids yet, but that don’t mean we xan’t practice!” and he carried her i to the bedroom.

Mike

His speed didn’t surprise her, but it never failed to make her heart race. “Mike....” and he grabbed her, “Mike! Don’t you make me spill this mead. That would be sacrilege.” Her laughter followed sounded him, from somewhere near his lower back. Some how Revna managed to keep some of the mead in the cup, by holding it from the rim, her other hand stayed occupied in ways only a wife should. “Mmmm that is a great idea. You are always full of great ideas.”

Revna

A few hours later, Mike stretched and said “Well so much for the sandwiches… I’m starving.” and he looked at Revna and said “How about I make one of your favorite things for dinner? Reservations.” and he laughed as he reached to activate the communications to the concierge desk.

Mike

Revna laughed, “We might have better luck with room service. We tend to exit restaurants before the appetizer is finished.” Revna laid back against the pillows. “Hopefully you got carrying me around out of your system for the day. You carry me out of a restaurant again, we’ll be all over the media again.” Then she laughed again, a warm sultry sound as she moved, wrapping her arms aound from behind him and started kissing the back of his neck and his shoulders. “And I didn’t bring my hiking boots Mike, so moving in heels isn’t gonna happen.”

Revna

Mike nodded and said “That works, but you gotta do the ordering and let me snooze a bit. Only fair, I got the apartment packed up while you slept.” and he made himself comfortable and closed his eyes. “And no teasing… I need food before the next round, dammit.” and he smiled.

Mike

She kissed him, it was gentle and loving and lacked any teasing, for now. “Fair enough.” Ravna got up slipping one of the robes provided by the hotel on, and slipped quietly out of the bedroom and closed the door. Revna had several pieces of personal business to deal with. Letters from her Da about Edman business, shipments for the Manhattan from the meadery, a letter to Runa asking about Angus and the preparations for moving. Liev wanted to know about the horses, who would be caring for them and what type of facilities would be built for their care and comfort on Oed. He was staying on Earth. She had a rather formal letter from Ragna. Poor girl was unhappy, but Revna really thought she would live it once things started to come together. She had a letter from Kirsten. She and Devlin’s son was 8 months old now, and they had named him Shauwn.

Revna sent letters to Sacred Heart Hospital. She wanted them to have her records before there was a chance she might need them. She also had physical therapy to finish. She had mostly been working with a holo program rather than an actual PT. Kirsten would collect everyone’s medical files and prepare them for the move.

Then after shebordered room service, she made a call to Grrrishja. She was an older Catian woman who ran The House and to see what she thought about starting another one on Oed.

The food arrived about 20 minutes after she got off the comms. Revna had them set the food on the table. Smoked salmon, cilantro lime brown rice, and a creamy pasta salad made with vegetables from local Delta planets. Included was the best selection of beers the hotel had to offer to recommend to go with the meal.

Revna

The smell of the food woke Mike and his stomach grumbled loudly. Damn, that woman can work up a hunger, thats for sure. he thought to himself. He opened his eyes and rolled out of bed and stretched. He grabbed a robe and tied it closed and then walked into the living room area of the suite. He spied Revna and said “Look at you… hunting and foraging like a pro.” and he chuckled. “I hope you’re hungry, otherwise there might not be anything left.” and he took a seat.

Mike

Revna moved over to the table. “Yeah I’m hungry, but if you are that hungry, I will just use my exceptional hunting skills to get you more.” She leaned over and kissed him before sitting down. “Feel better after you slept a few hours?” Revna used her fork to spear a piece of the fish that flaked perfectly along with the rice. “You have your choice of beer.” And she pointed at the cart.
