That mental touch was a soothing balm and Lai inhaled deeply, letting herself relax despite her worries. His question, though, provoked all sorts of responses in her and it muddled her mind so she just fixated on him for a moment, finding her words. “We’ve been on the run so long I don’t even know how to answer that. Being able to claim a place as our own would be rather novel.” Lai cast her gaze to the door, where people who had been kind but also wary of her demonstration had left. “I think a part of me would get anxious doing nothing in one place though, but maybe having a base home could be the answer. We can go and do whatever and feel free to always come home.” Home. A concept that was ever elusive, but perhaps for the first time they could figure out what it truly meant.

Akem gave her a gentle smile as he tenderly caressed her arm. “Home is whenever I’m with you. Finding a fixated place, to me, at least can be perhaps worrisome? We’ve spent so much time running. And sure, I don’t want to have to keep running literally for our very lives. But coming out of it will be…different. I’m still not fully convinced this planet is safe. Do you want a place here? Or should we perhaps look into getting ourselves a ship? We could build our home on a ship maybe?” It was clear he wasn’t being suggestive one way or the other. He was merely toss about ideas and gauging her thoughts on it all. Perhaps it was a lot right now? He wasn’t certain.

Lai closed her eyes and extended her awareness outward, reaching for and touching the intrinsic energy of the world. Her eyes fluttered back open and she smiled serenely. “This is a good place for us. Despite how we got here and the reason I think we were meant to be here Love. And maybe we should talk to that Captain who brought us here. It feels serendipitous that we came across us when he knows our counterparts from this universe, don’t you?”
