Kenzo thought about the suggestion and then slowly nodded. “That… could work. Although I am curious how we will provide a banquet for a species who is listed as a -” and he looked at the PaDD and scrolled through briefly, “- ‘insectivore and carnivore’. But that is for the caterers to deal with, I suppose.” and he looked at Eeela and smiled slightly. “But a social gathering would do well as a preliminary step. What size would you think would be best suited for the occasion?”

She snorted. “You know how these things go, if we don’t invite everyone someone will be miffed, but I think too large a group would be overwhelming. However, Diplomatic staff from both sides, Cabinet members, senior Starfleet officers and maybe a couple other rather prominent colony presences like the Holloways would probably be fitting, depending on how that would be viewed by the rest of the colony. Always trying to tread that line line between necessity and favouritism. But no more than that. The idea is for people to be able to have actual conversations with each other.”

“Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, perhaps some of the artist community… and probably the Klingons should be included.” Kenzo said and fell silent for a moment as he thought. “What if we held it in the Oed Museum? It is a neutral space, but holds cultural artifacts from all over the Federation. It would give the Vren a sense of the enormity of the Federation; and the fact that cultural independence is not only respected, but also encouraged.”

Hyrushi, Governor

She snapped her fingers and pointed at him. “I like that a lot. And yes to business community, House Duroc and I really love the idea of some artists there.”

Eela sipped her coffee and leaned back. “Other concerns or tidbits about the Vren we should be considering? A lot of this will be stuff we can hash out when Mathis and Co get here in a couple days, but I think it’s really good that we are taking the lead on this. Us having the banquet even partially planned will demonstrate that people will take directions from us, not the other way around.”

“Agreed.” Kenzo replied. “As for ‘other tidbits’, we should get the Cabinet together and tell them what is coming. As well as your Senior Fleet personnel. I’m sure they won’t mind us calling them all in on short notice… again.” and he chuckled. “But this time you do it. It’s your turn, after all.” and he stood up and went into the kitchen to refresh his tea.

Hyrushi, Gov.

“Fine, we trade off, seems only fair,” she said with a light laugh.

When he returned, Eela considered him for a moment. “I know things could have been approached differently, and you might not agree with me on this, but the whole idea of a Federation Embassy here? It’s a great idea, and it should have happened sooner, preferably before there was a specific situation like we’re currently facing.”
