Already, Eela’s mind was running through possibilities. She had been in enough similar situations to know how they might go, to be able to anticipate the issues. She tamped down on her expression as Mathis’ earlier reference came to mind and she knew it was something they’d have to address immediately after Kek signed off the call. But for the moment she had nothing else to add.

Hyrushi was silent a moment and then said =/\= Ambassador Mathis, I do hope you appreciate the potentially explosive situation you are putting Lieutenant Governor Dasca and myself in. The Vren have no good reputation to build on here. In fact, they have just the opposite. All negative. And we now have three days- less than, actually- to open the minds and hearts of millions of people. People who have absolutely no reason to accept this gesture; sincere as it may be. Oed should have been notified of contact when it first happened, Madame Ambassador Surely the Diplomatoc Corps would have been preparing for this possibility when the Vren first made the request for assistance? =/\= Kenzo was furious, but to his credit it didn’t show at all. But a text message appeared on Dasca’s terminal that said simply “After the call, please come directly to my apartment.”

=/\=I understand your frustration, but there are a lot of moving pieces in all of this and we had no way to know how sincere they were. I wasn’t there for first contact and I was only just read into the situation when I was asked to go to Black Rock a few days ago.=/\= Mathis sighed. =/\=Could I have called you then? Yes, I admit that perhaps I should have. But I didn’t not expect this to progress so quickly as it did in this meeting. In my mind we would have weeks, not days to prepare. We want a good outcome for all of this, for both the Vren, and for Oed and the Federation. I was given instructions for how to proceed initially but I will have wide latitude for how I proceed from here on out.=/\= She would absolutely take responsibility for the things that were actually her fault, but it was all a complicated chain of events and there were other people higher up i the decision making process. It was very much a ‘Don’t Shoot the Messenger’ sort of situation even if she understood and agreed with their concerns.

Hyrushi was being stoic as usual and so Eela was coming to the conclusion that at least publicly, Eela would be the more expressive of the pair. That suited her just fine. And so in this moment, Dasca’s unease was apparent and her eyes flashed with a ferocity as she leaned towards the screen ever so slightly. =/\=Jeanette, I understand where you are coming from. I’ve been there myself. But you brought up the Khari. The thing you must absolutely understand going forward is that I will never consider the Khari a success. I get that on record it looks like one because we averted civil war, but that situation was terrible and the cost too high. I don’t give a shit what the higher ups consider a success or not, I will not let Oed be a testing ground for what Oed will or will not be a success.=/\= Her expression softened as she took a deep breath. =/\=We will determine that for ourselves and you are damn lucky I am the one in my position right now.
