She didn’t know why but that made her grin. It felt like something of approval from him, and also like she had passed more hurdles than the others and she had only been here a whole half and hour. “Good to know,” she said, feeling it applied across the board.

Rising to her feet and slightly irritated that it was harder than it should have been, Dasca considered Hyrushi for a moment before bowing her head graciously to him. “Thank you for your time. I’m sure I’ll have plenty more questions.”

Hyrushi stood and bowed to her. “I hope that I can be of help to you in answering those.”

As she stepped away, Eela turned back and flashed him a grin. “I’m a woman of action generally and I like information before acting. But I also trust my instincts and I have a really good feeling about this, Kenzo.”

Hyrushi didn’t move, but said “You may consider me cautiously optimistic. Which is far more than I can say for the previous holders of the office. I look forward to working with you, Lieutenant Governor Dasca.”

A throaty chuckle ensued as Dasca turned back and walked towards the door. “You know what? I’ll take it. Good day, Governor.”

As she stepped out of the office, Eela was hit by a strange sensation and it had nothing to do with the brace she needed to get check out. No, this feeling was a familiar swirl that she associated with that old woman from a planet a long ways away from Oed. She couldn’t say for sure, but with any luck, Eela Dasca would soon find out that she was home.
