Michael immediately stepped into the medical bay and made for one of the nearby computers. Two of the three cryo tubes were already prepped. The third one was malfunctioning and was down until it could be repaired.

Conrad popped open one of the tubes. There was a hiss and very cold air escaped from the pod. A rather long platorm rose from the smokey air within.

He gestured to it, saying, “Just get her laid out on there. Once she’s in cryo stasis, she’ll be good to go until we reach Oed V.”

Michael watched as Akem quickly moved over to the tube and gently placed her ont he platform. He carefully laid her out in organized fashion and then stepped back. Conrad then lowered her into the tube and it sealed shut.

He then pulled out a modified disruptor and pointed it at Akem.

Akem seemed quite taken aback. “What’re you doing? Don’t do this! If you’re being paid off, tell me and I’ll make sure you get double that for letting us live. At the very least, keep her alive!”

Conrad smiled as he then acccessed the computer yet again to open the second working pod. With another hiss the pod was ready for someone to step in.

“You can either go in their willingly and we’ll get you back out at Oed, or I can shoot you as you run away. Choice is yours.”

Akem looked at the stasis pod and then back to Conrad. “How can I trust you? How do i know you won’t abandon us? How do I know you’ll wake us when we get there:?”

Michael chuckled. “Oh! I have nothing to offer you that would make you trust me. Just my word. Again, feel free to try and escape!” he said humorously as he pointed it at him.

It was clear that the deltan had very little choice. He seemed to reluctantly give in and made his way onto the platform to be lowered into the tube just like Lai had.

Akem was in a panic. He had no idea who this man was. There was no indication the man would keep his word. But, he did sense something. This man, Conrad, was just as freaked out as he was. This man seemed to somehow recognize them. Perhaps it was enough. Perhaps he could take the risk.

Akem went to the platform and prepared for his stasis. He briefly looked to Lai in her pod, sending a mental image of a tender kiss between them before the platform enacted his own decent.

“Katrina,” stated Michael aloud after witnessing Akem disappear into the pod.

Katrina’s translucent holographic image appeared before him. She wore white dress that hugged her torso and ended above her knees. Her long blonde hair was done up into a ponytail behind her. “Yes, captain?”

“Ensure these pods are locked. I’m going to the bridge. I need information on where I can find Halai Cosgrove.” he said as he turned to leave the bay.

“Understood, I’ll meet you on the bridge.” And with that, her image disappeared.

Boat seemingly stationary despite all the normal ways a boat should move, Lai frowned. Somewhere on the edge of her consciousness, she felt something warm bloom upon her cheek and it settled her unease. Her korsiolo flared yet again, reminding her that something was happening here and it might not be entirely bad. Could she trust that through? Was it enough? Her and Akem had been fleeing for so long that she didn’t know what it was like to stop moving. But here she was, still. It was baffling, and yet intriguing.***
