Decker wasn’t happy that the shuttle was nearly 3 hours late getting him to his next command. But, it was nothing he could do about it. He was in a foul mood anyways, and he wasn’t for sure if he wanted to continue as a Star Fleet officer, or even a Marine. After the debacle on the Dauntless nearly 4 years ago, Decker wasn’t getting anywhere in his career. Time was something he didn’t want to think about. He was a respected man, but when push came to shove, he’d throw that respect out the window.

Then it was the drinking problem. The main reason why he was no longer a Major, or a Lt. Commader. Nope, he done lost that battle. If it wasn’t for his friend, former CO of the Dauntless, he probably would be in a brig, rotting like some of the people he put in jail. Lets face it though, punching his XO, though felt great to do, probably wasn’t the best option. Though, finding out he was sleeping with the CO’s wife, Decker felt the SOB deserved it. It almost got the CO in a heap of mess, and that wasn’t what Decker wanted. Demoted to Lieutenant, was what really made him upset. But, thanks to his buddy, he was offered Head of Star Fleet Security on OED V. Reluctantly at first, he didn’t want it. Just wanted to retire. But ultimately, he was talked into it, and here we are.

So, here he is, sitting in a spaceport, waiting for a Star FLeet liason to show up, so that he can report to the CO, a Zaldan, named Jordar. He assumed the Captain knew he was coming, so he figured he could get the formalities out of the way. Decker just wanted to get back to doing what he does best, catch bad people and put them away. He thought about getting a drink, but as if on cue, the Liason showed up.

“Mr. Decker, welcome to OED V,” he said. “I’m …”

“Yeah, listen, I know what your supposed to do,” he said to him. “Just don’t. Skip the formalities, please. Just take me to the Captain.”

The liason smiled and nodded. “This way.”

What seemed like 30 minutes, the liason stopped in front of a door, and motioned for the LT to go in. “Captain Jordar is expecting you, please go in and have a seat.”

Decker nodded and walked in. The door quickly shut on him, and he stood at attention in front of the Captain.

“Lt. Tyrell Decker, reporting for duty…sir.” he said

Jordar, fresh off of quarantine from a rather unpleasant bout of Thelusian flu was rubbing his temples and resisting the urge to sneeze when the officer entered and stood before him. One for knowing who he was speaking with and had already read the rather storied past of his new COS. He had thought of being an iron fist and making the man stay in line, but that approach worked in a select few cases and Tyrell seemed to be a man of honor and doing what’s right above doing what’s protocol. Jordar liked that.

“Decker I’m going to cut to the chase. You’ve been disgraced out of the Marines and posted to a colony as far away from the main operations as you could. Starfleet couldn’t find it in them to dismiss you but JAG made sure you wouldn’t ever be a problem with them again. Welcome to the club.” He said, pausing to blow his nose before stifling a sneeze into his sleeve. “Do what’s right by the people of the colony and maintain order per Starfleet regulations in a manner that would be fitting of this post. We have interests but are beholden to the civilians in how we can go about accomplishing those goals. Understood?”

“Yes Sir,” said Decker. He knew that he would be on a magnifying glass, but what do you expect, when you punch a higher ranking officer. “I hope to do you and this colony proud.”

Something tells Decker though that his new CO wasn’t what he seemed either. Hopefully that would be benificial at one point.
