After an extreme amount of money and effort on Hoka’s part, he was able to secure the help of the forever staff and caretakers of the animals. Walking out of his office at the Zoo to be amongst the growing crowd. He didn’t want to admit it but he was actually starting to like this side of himself and loving what he was doing for not only the animals but for his newfound community.

It was grand re-opening day and everything was free, the food, drinks, souvenirs and games. The administration price will now always be free. Now he waited to see the smiles of the community.

Dai’Mon Hoka

Karina was eager to see the new zoo, the children were as well. She was sure many were here already today. Karina had not been to the zoo before so had no comparison but she was eager to see everything. ‘And there is the most important one,’ she thought to herself as she caught a glimpse of Dai’Mon Hoka. Karina made her way over to the man waited for an opportunity to speak to him. “Dai’Mon Hoka. I am Karina Enger, Educational Director for Oed.” Karina placed her inner wrists together, hand flexed out, fingers curled and bent her knees slightly in a traditional Ferengi greeting. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

Enger, ED

Hoka smiled and returned the greeting. “I am impressed madam. Thank you for doing a little research on my customs. That goes along way. But I am glad that we met. I need to talk to you about education and this new facility.” He put his arm around her waist (because of his height) and began walking. “This zoo has plans to quadruple in size plus have an state of the art aquarium attached as well. These facilities will not only be her to educate the people that visit but will also play important parts in research, development and the care, maintenance and protection of species. So I need to be able to communicate to the masses at a level that 90% of the beings that come here will understand the signs and shows.”

Karina didn’t seem phased by the touch. Ferengi were such tactile people, and being Cairn, Karina would speak her mind either way, especially about personal boundaries, which Cairn understood about as much as ‘privacy.’ She listened as they walked considering all the different ways to implement such things.

“I want to have field trips planned for children that will educate them and give them behind the scenes access. Can you help with all that? You will of course be compensated.”

Dai’Mon Hoka

Karina smiled, “Ah I see we are already thinking along the same lines, Dai’Mon. I can certainly help you with that. I am looking to completely revise the curriculum from the earliest stages all the way up to the highest levels of educational training. So your suggestion for behind the scenes access is quite promising. Field trips, in-depth insight into the workings of such a business venture, and the opportunity for apprentices - science, ecology, animal husbandry, veterinary medicine, business administration, botany. The possibilities for mutual benefits and to help our new community are endless.”

Enger, ED

Taking his hand away from her. “That is exactly what I wanted to hear. We will have brings from all systems coming here, studying here, visiting here, and researching here. Please get ready when you can and come to my office. I need to get permits to expand this place and put the aquarium in but I am working on them. Then I will need animal experts to go and find other exotic and endangered discuss to bring here for conservation, protection and studying. I will send out a job board for it.”

Dai’Mon Hoka

Karina nodded, “I am available most days after lunch into the early evening. My personal com is listed on the colony directory. Let’s schedule a meeting DaiMon.”

Enger, ED

“Sounds great! I cannot wait! You know I have never felt this good before. I have never cared about anything before except prestige and wealth. Now I am caring for something else and I am doing it all for free! And I do not even care! I cannot believe I just said that! These animals and the beings that they inspire are my reward and payment.” Hoka was beaming with pride and joy.

Dai’Mon Hoka

Karina blinked. “That is wonderful, Dai’Mon, but how are you financing all this?”

Enger ED

“Oh that is easy! I have many investments and this will be what I give back! Money is easy to come by for me. Want me to help you invest?”

Dai’Mon Hoka

Without even missing a beat, Karina glanced at Hoka while they walked, “And what will that cost me? I have some....discretionary funds for the school, and it is just enough to make me and the teachers thankful to those who donate. Students and their education, Dai’Mon Hoka should not be at the mercy of the rich. Tell me what you might suggest.” Karine had, not a week prior, fired the entire school board. They were ill-informed about how a school worked, the effort that went into providing a rich and diverse learning environment, and the actual needs of children. How they had been allowed onto a school board was beyond her.

Enger, ED

OOC: I’m very sorry!

IC: : Oh that’s easy. I do not always take an illegal approach to investing. I have many, many, many legitimate companies and investments. What we can do since it is for the school is to invest 3/4 of it in regular bonds and stocks along with some of my property investments. The other quarter will go to high stakes. The amount that you will loose if any in the high stakes will be covered by the regular ones. I will personally match all investments. I can even donate the money to start all your employees with a 401K or whatever it is that you all have and match it for 3 years until your other investments take flight.”

Karina listened carefully, having to pause to think about what he was saying as she processed the words rather than images of her normal communication process. “Our retirement plan is covered by the government. I believe that would need to be discussed with the Governor. I am sure he would be willing to discuss the matched donations or find a more secure way to ensure the retirement of our teachers and staff.” And if not well it never hurt to have two winnows on the look out.

He walked for a bit before continuing. “The price will be free. It will be my gift to the school. Do you need donations for any new buildings, supplies, computers, PaDDs, etc..?”

Dai’Mon Hoka

“Ah now that is something that I can say yes to all the above. I have been told we will be building a new school, new buildings, new materials, new technology, everything. However I have yet to get all the details. But I do know that if we are to recruit the best teachers here that we must have the latest and best. But that does not always mean technology. Books, real books will be a large part of this project, materials and samples and equipment for science labs, machine shops, art studios, and so much more. It’s quite the under taking.”

Enger, ED

Stopping to look at an endangered species. “It will be an undertaking. We need the best and brightest minds in the universe to get people to come here with their children and feel safe. In order to do that we need to give the educators something else as an incentive and money is not always the way. Trust me on that one. Not everyone can be bought. We need to think of other ways to get them to come and that means getting the school up and running with all the things you said.”

“Oh I agree, Dai’Mon. And I know exactly what will attract those I want in my school, and it is not money for themselves, but the ideal learning environment. That does take money, materials, and vision. But it will happen. I am too determined to fail.”

He looked at the endangered species again and smiled them pointed at it. “See this creature did not have a choice to come here but we have made its journey and stay a pleasant one. I have committed myself and all my resources and finance to make sure that will happen. I will do the same for your school. We need to go to the Governor and ask what I am allowed to donate and purchase with your help. If I need to find the schools solely until assistance arrives, then so be it. But I can get the Dai’Mon Ress himself to help fund as well. Together we can pay for everything at once and then get paid back at a later date. That will be tricky but I am sure I can get him to it.”

Looking back at her. “Please gather up what we need and think of ways to get them here and we will pay for it for now. Then meet me back at my office so we can go see the Governor together. Sound good?”

Dai’Mon Hoka

“I have a meeting already with the Governor tomorrow to go over the building plans and location for the new school. Let me see where we are with that, and then I can meet you tomorrow afternoon?”
