Manhattan arrived at exactly 0500, and was docked at the air lock by 0520. Revna used her emanate departure to make her way quickly through the air lock and onto the station.

Mike was waiting and smiled broadly at her. “Hey… I’m supposed to meet some chick here for a quickie. You wouldn’t happen to know her would you?” and he scooped her up off the deck and hugged her to him, kissing her like she was the last glass of water to a man dying of thirst.

Revna couldn’t help it, the sight of Mike brought a huge smile to her face. “I might know her, about this tall, copper blonde hair full of small bits of metal, been really lonely for the last two mo....” and then she was in his arms and he was kissing her and she could breathe again.

“So I have our trunks packed, our ride gets here in three hours, and I cooked you breakfast. So… what do you want first? Me or the breakfast?” and he grinned.

She lifted the shoulder holding her bag, “I just have to toss this in and I’m good. And you, definitely you.” She kissed him again, whispering in his ear. “Get moving, we have a dress code to fix,” and she winked at him.

“Honey, the dress code ain’t broke. We just gotta get in it.” and he grabbed her bag and they hustled through the station to the private lift, nodding to Security… one of whom Mike fist bumped as they passed… and up to their apartment. Mike stopped at the door and looked at Revna. “I want you to know that I love you. More than anything. If I had to choose between you and music… I would always choose you. I just needed to tell you that before we walk inside and we are doing things that keep us from talking.”

She gave him a questioning look, what was he up to? She squeezed his hand, “I know you would, Mike. I’ve never wondered.” She kissed him, “Let’s stop talking then.”

The doors opened and Mike ushered her inside. The apartment was filled with flowers. Everywhere were roses, tulips… and red campions. He looked at her and said “Two and a half hours. I wanted to make the most of it.”

She walked in, taking a deep breath, relieved to be home and the aroma hit her and she blinked, walking further into the apartment. Every surface was covered in flowers, real flowers, not something out of the replicator. In every concievable color they came in. Her eyes landed immediately on the red campions and she walked right over to them and cupped the small blooms in her hands, leaning over to inhale the scent and then she turned to look at him. “Mike this is…flamboyant…” She walked towards him, letting the long vest slip off her shoulders to the floor, and stepping out of her shoes. “Two and half hours is not going to be long enough to show you how much I love this.” She started kissing him, pulling his shirt loose and walking backwards towards the bed room, her lips never leaving his.

Shedding clothes as they went, they managed to follow their agreed upon dress code before they hit the hallway. Mike reached under her and lifted her up so her legs wrapped around his waist and she was resting on him. He pulled back from kissing her just long enough to say “I want to make you scream that you love me, wife.” he said flatly but also somehow meaningfully. As they came into the bedroom, the bed was covered in the petals from the campions; and as they fell onto it they flew up in the air and rained back down on them.

Revna settled against him, content and at peace, in that moment, despite everything else swirling around them like wolves. He wanted to talk, she wanted to keep kissing him. She smiled as she kissed along his jaw, his neck and back to his mouth. She leaned back and stared at him, her eyes going hot at the idea. She leaned in, a sultry whisper teasing his ear, “Better not explode my lungs this time, then, but just in case…” She tipped her head back, away from his ear and shouted to the heavens, “I Love You Michael McKenzie!” She fell onto the bed with him and her eyes slid away from his watching the petals rise and then fall around them. Mike made everything magical. A soft breath left her as copper gaze met green, “First fairies and now floating flower petals. What did I do to deserve a man like you?” She didn’t wait for his response but instead let her actions show him how much she’d missed him and exactly what he meant to her. Some time later their non-existent neighbors would know that Mrs Revna McKenzie loved her husband very, very much.

Revna McKenzie

Revna had walked into the closet and stared up at the shelf with hesitation. But if it came down to clout they might be worth it. At the very least she could give them to Ragna to place in the archives and she could forget about them. She reached up on tip toe, all the way to the back, finger tips reaching the edge of the box and coaxing it forward. She walked out with it in her hand and a dress over her arm.

As they dressed after their ‘reunion, the comms chirped. Mike looked at Revna and said “Sooo… our ride is here. I… um…” and he looked a bit guilty. “Well… you’ll see.”

Mike McKenzie

She tossed her bag and the box inside the chest and shut and locked the lid. She finished lacing the sides of the dress. She paused and laid a hand on his arm. “Mike, what is it?” She’d never seen him look guilty, and it made her worried.

She was ready, and there was a chime at the door. “Come in!” An ops officer strolled in with an antigrav sled and took the chests and left to have them transfered to their transport.

They left their apartment and went to the docking bays. In a private berth lay an old Orion Interceptor. The ship was old, seemingly very, and seemed in need of serious repairs.

Revna recognized the ship class and wondered if the seeming need of repair was real or a clever deception. Mike said it would get them there so she had to believe it was capable.

As they approached, the docking ramp lowered and three Orion walked down the ramp. One walked up to Mike and shook his hand. “Mr. McKenzie, good to see you. The Underboss sends his regards. We are to take you to Sol system, correct? Long run, but we can get you there. The Underboss said you were aware we can’t get you in the system, of course.”

Revna bit back a grin keeping her face composed. An underboss?? Mike had fans everywhere! The counselor in her was fascinated by the universality of Punk Rock. Then she had to wonder if it was all punk or just Mike. Maybe she could get a grant to do some focused research…then she could spend years following Mike around and get paid for it.....

Mike nodded. “Yeah, we’re ok with that. And all of you are on pheromone inhibitors, right?” and he looked at Revna. The Orion grinned and said “Yeah, we all saw your vid. No problems there. We’re under orders to leave the lady alone. Shall we?” and he gestured to the ship.

Revna turned a slow look at Mike and gave him a seriously considered look that suggested maybe he should take one too. Without a second thought Revna moved with Mike towards the ship. If he felt comfortable enough to make the arrangements she trusted him. But he could forget the dress ode while they were on board.

The ship was, on the outside, a proverbial train wreck. Mismatched hull materials and the fact that this style of ship was known to have been active well over a hundred years ago meant it was old. Inside was little different. Bare wiring and haphazard repairs were the decorating theme, and the few Orion moving about seemed frustrated and irritated; arguing and trying to keep things running.

The doors to the cabin Mike and Revna were in opened, and that was the first indication all was not as may appear. A well-appointed… even luxurious… room lay before them. All the amenities of a ship-of-the-line from Star Fleet was there… as if it was a Fleet Admiral’s cabin. An Orion female dressed in almost a bikini was just finishing making up the bed, and she turned and smiled seductively at the two humans.

Oh boy..... Revna was honestly a little too tired. Instead of her usual good humor her only thought was this woman needed to stop looking at her, and especially Mike, that way.

“Welcome to the Shi-Tan, Mr. And Mrs. McKenzie.” she almost purred. “I’m Lestrella. I’ve been ordered to do anything I can to make you feel comfortable and relaxed during our cruise.” She walked up to Revna and put her hands on her arms and smiled. “Mmmm… I think we are going to have a wonderful trip indeed…” and her voice trailed off as she looked Revna up and down suggestively.

Shi-Tan ‘Morale Officer’

Somewhere, finally, her good sense kicked in, or maybe her sense of humor. She reached up taking the woman’s hands in hers. Her eyes danced as if everything the woman said was just amazing. “Anything, Lestrella? In that case, I have not had breakfast. A mixture of fruit I think, and juice. No alcohol.” Eyeing their crates in the room she nodded, “No need to ruin our cruise with it. Ice cold milk and giant cinnamon buns covered in icing.” She returned the woman’s appraisal and then tucking the woman’s arm into her elbow with a flourish she turned and headed toward the door. Her voice dropped subtly as if conspiring with her. “Then once we’ve eaten, at least 10 uninterrupted hours so I can sleep. I have not slept in days. And I would hate to ruin this wonderful trip by being cranky.” She let Lestrella go out the door and then Revna locked it. She walked right over to Mike and into his arms, and she wasn’t sure if she found the situation amusing or exhausting or something else. “Hopefully I just bought us 11 maybe 12 hours before we deal with all that again,” and she waved towards the door. “But you can forget the dress code while we’re here. I think Lestrella would enjoy it too much. And I have every intention of sleeping after we eat. I haven’t slept in a couple of days. And you absolutely are not leaving my side this entire trip. I think Lestrella would be far too happy to get me alone. You’re just going to have to protect me, Mike.” There was laughter in her voice, but she was also dead serious.
