She wears it down and loose, only pulling it up in a snood (a decorative loose hand knit hair net) when working in the clan’s meadery. She is active, trim, and lean with defined muscles.

Personality

Ragna, like the rest of her family, is extremely compassionate. Unlike the rest of her family, she is very much like her grandparents: fierce and vocal about it. She is deeply spiritual and is not ashamed of it. She is a good listener but she doesn’t have her sister’s ability to step into another person’s shoes and empathize with them. She has a strict code she lives by and holds everyone to it. Over the years she has learned to listen first and think before speaking, though she has a hot temper that gets her into trouble a lot.

Ragna suffers from severe migraines. Her most common trigger is changes in weather pressure. She also suffers from seizures, but always preceded by migraines. The only thing that helps the headaches are an herbal tincture that her Aunt created for her when she was a child.

Back Story:

Ragna was born along the North Sea on Earth. Her family honored the traditional customs of her Nordic heritage. She was always quick to take sides and was stubborn in changing her mind. Following in her sisters’ footsteps she attended Cambridge university and earned her degree in history and archeology. She took up after her father as the clan historian. She also spent a lot of time in the family meadery with her father. She is close to all her family but she is the closest of the three to her uncle, Oddvar.

Regna was a healthy and very active child. Her past times of sailing boats and practicing with old world weapons has left her with her fair share of injuries and scars. She says she’d have it no other way. During the 2391 world games, Ragna was the only female competitor in the live blade arenas. Refusing to take a win by default she demanded the judges allow her to compete against a volunteer male competitor. A man by the name of Hamamoto Kensakushe agreed, expecting it to be a short match requiring little effort. 15 seconds in he realized that Ragna had no intention of claiming an empty win. During the bout Ragna took a very heavy blow from Hamamoto’s Nodachi across her left forearm leaving a deep gash that cut across the ulna. After a quick bandage, Ragna continued, winning the bout and the respect of Hamamoto, who became a lifelong friend. Ragna still carries the scar, saying it reminds her to never let her blade’s guard slip.

Ragna loves brewing mead and has a deep interest in the creation of any drink. She has helped her uncle refine the process for mead liquor that has expanded the family trade name and brought in quite a bit of money for the clan.

Like her sisters she sails the dragon boats and has won with them the world races six times, but never winning when going solo. She’s an accomplished swordswoman, competing every year, and one of the few female competitors in the live weapons arena having won 8 times since she began competing. Often being forced to compete in the men’s division due to a lack of skilled opponents. She has won the last 4 years world games

Ragna loves history, spending hours with her father in the archives, studying the history of not only her own clan but the peoples of the North Sea. Whereas her sisters are drawn to music and song Ragna, has a pretty voice, but her true vocal skill is bardic storytelling.

Ragna is a loner. Her sisters, twins, always were together and Ragna found that very smothering as a child. She likes to do things on her own and never felt the need to have a constant companion. She figured it was something even weirder with her sisters. Growing up and during college she would spend weeks at a time in the ‘wilds’ working on and searching for archaeological sites.

When her oldest sister married, it was Ragna’s job to bring the heralic papers to Clan McKenzie in Scotland. It should have been a simple and quick task. Except the clan Marshall was a stubborn and arrogant pain in the arse. That was until Ragna was forced to allow him to nurse her in the middle of a massive storm that brought on a migraine the likes of which she hadn’t suffered since she was a child. One week later, Seamus McKenzie, Marshall of Clan McKenzie, came to Bømlo to carry Ragna away as his bride.
