Oed V

Stephen’s Home- Dinner is Served

<snip>

Astrid nodded, hiding her discomfort well among the mixed company. She leaned towards Halai, reaching past her to more hors d’oeuvre to mask her speaking quietly. “It feels like oil on water.” She wrinkled her nose briefly. “It is nice to know I am not the only empath around. Even being half Betazoid is better than not being able to sense things. On more than one occasion it has saved my life.” She paused and looked toward the door. “Are you sure she is going to be alright?”

Rousseau, HotJ

Michael Halloway raised his good eyebrow. “Must be nice,” he said lowly. He was about to give her a few seconds before he went over to find out what was going on. He didn’t need to be an empath to get the general feeling that somethign wasn’t right.

-Governor Michael Halloway

“Oh, I’m not an empath,” Halai said distractedly. “It’s… complicated. Call it a special… intuition, if you will.” She looked back towards where Eviros had disappeared in. “Yes, I’m pretty sure of it. But I can’t exactly see the future.”

~Halai Cosgrove

She trusted Halai and relaxed just a little. The group of the governor, his wife, Halai and Astrid made for a pretty spectacular conglomeration of people with extra sensory perceptions. It seemed like the rest of the party had not noticed a thing, which made Astrid grateful. Most of the time people didn’t outrightly recognize her as Betazoid and therefore did not put their guard up like they would if they were reminded by her physical appearance.

Michael nodded, noting that in his mind for reference later, should he ever have need of her abilities as it were.

Just then, Ylana received a mental transmission of sorts.

The image of Morin’s face or the sound of his voice is what she would hear. If I had wanted to hurt people here, I would have done so without the disguise. Fascinating party. I had no idea Oed hid such monstrous creatures. Oh, and if you really would like to learn more about your ‘special’ gifts as it were, come find me. Or I’ll find you. No harm meant. You’re quite special here Ylana. And I’d rather you learn the extent of that. Think about it. We’ll talk soon.

Michael didn’t have psionic abilities, but he sensed something from Ylana. He allowed his mind to remain open to her, careful and warm. Is everything ok, Imzadi?

-Governor Michael Halloway

Imzadi, Leamas is here but just left. But there’s another being, possibly more powerful than him here. I don’t know if anyone is in danger yet, but be prepared to get people out on a moment’s notice, Ylana told him from elsewhere in the house.

~Ylana Eviros, CSO

A a couple moments later, Ylana’s voice sounded in his head. Michael, the being is gone. Stand down on the alert. At least on that front. She didn’t sound terribly impressed at all.

~Ylana Eviros, CSO

Michael was curious and puzzled all at once. But he maintained his composure. No need to share information on something he knew next to nothing about. Though the thought the strange being mentioned earlier had just been here was troubling him. Why was this being seeking out Ylana? Maybe it wasn’t? Maybe he was just jumping to conclusions? It was odd though, that the being had more than just one encounter with her. What was it after?

Xavier needed to know about it. This was in starfleet’s hands at the moment and this was certainly not a good chance thing.

-Governor Michael Halloway

“Well, Stephen certainly knows how to throw an intriguing party.”She said light heartedly.
