Kord shook his head.

“No. Would it surprise you to know that I can exert some control over the ship’s systems?” he intentionally understated as he continued to watch the data crossing the displays.

Tia smiled and shook her head. “Surprise me, no. Though I admit I had no idea. So that’s the other reason for the shielding in your room. So in a moment of emotional spike,” she said with a mischievous grin, “You don’t suddenly send up to warp 12?” She was teasing him despite the idea being an intriguing one. “Seriously though, I am amazed, indeed. But no, not surprised as much as I probably should be.”

Kord laughed.

“I can’t push the ship very far past it’s limits, certainly not to Warp 12, but I can do much while appearing not to do anything.”

The idea truly intrigued her and suddenly her eyes narrowed as her mind started working on the possibilities. “Do you have to be in direct contact with the computer, or can you do it from anywhere? And does the Captain know?” She knew it wasn’t good for anyone else to be aware of his ‘ability’. But the Captain should most certainly know. And with all the missions she had heard of where ships were overrun, a skill like his would certainly come in handy if possible.

Kord looked at Tia.

“I can be anywhere on the ship or within two hundred and fifty meters of it since I’m personally familiar with the systems. I don’t know if the Captain knows. I’ve never bothered to check on whether Kirk’s first encounter with my people was classified or not.”

Tia nodded. “Well, I will keep your secret. That is, unless it’s the only way to say lots of lives cause things go sideways. Though, in which case, I’m sure you’ll think of it long before me.” She tried to keep a teasing edge to it.

Looking around the bridge, she smiled. “I can’t imagine what it’s like to be connected to something so huge.”
