Slowly and with care the patient managed to go down the ladder with the help of Morris and Cross ‘’Good job Steve you made it ‘’. The CMO heaved a sigh of relief ,Kate come out of sickbay to assist him in getting on one of he biobeds .

‘’Morris could you please do one more thing and get the oxygen cylinder he had down to sickbay?’‘.

Morris gave a nod and said, “Aye, Ma’am.” and went to retrieve the cylinder.

Cross went to check on the patient who was brought unconscious and decided to do a neurological test .The first one wasn’t pleasant but it had to be done , she pressed hard on both sides of his temple , seeing that the patient winced in pain was a good sign .He eventually stirred opening his eyes ‘’Hello there welcome back , how are you feeling ?Does your head hurt and if so where? ‘’.

He gave a slight nod .The CMO proceeded with the neurological exam ‘’Follow my finger ‘’ to her relief he did so without any problems. ‘’Look at me , what color are my eyes?’‘. Had she thought about it Cross would not have asked the dumbest question she could have possible asked.

‘’R…r..red ....doctor why am I..I’m seeing the color red what is wrong with m..my eyes ?’’ the poor man asked confused.

When Morris returned with the cylinder, he found the doctor at the crewman’s bed. He walked over just in time to hear the man ask about his eyes.

‘’Thanks Morris for all your help ‘’ the CMO told him while putting the oxygen mask back on the patient’s face ‘’I think I’ll rest a bit I do feel tired..its not like me ‘’ she tailed off forgetting that she was in the beginning of her second trimester .

Morris would feel someone pulling at his shirt ,it was the ex Orion slave ‘’Hi I’m D’Nesh do you know where I can find Joe the barman ?’’ she asked clearly oblivious to the dire situation they were in.

Morris was about to say something more to Dr. Cross when he felt a tug on his shirt. He turned to see an Orion asking about the barman. “I-I’m afraid I don’t. I’m new aboard and haven’t quite got the lay o’ the land yet. But I also don’t think know is the appropriate time for a pint. Are ye injured?”

She shook her head from side to side ‘’No I’m just afraid’’ D’Nesh replied ‘’Why have the lights been switched off? ‘’ she asked having no idea what was going on.

“I could use a drink!” replied Faith.

’’ We can all do with one ‘’ Kate said looking at Faith ‘’What about the Captain’s office I believe he does keep alcohol in his cabinet’’ .The nursing officer gazed at Cross who had fallen asleep ‘’What do you think ? ‘’.
This was out of character for Kate but then again she never found herself in the present situation ‘’Who knows it could be our last !!’‘.

Dawson looked about at the sudden speakers before turning back to the Orion, “There’s no reason to scared now.” He said, “We’re just experiencing a bit of trouble. I’m sure we’ll be back up and running in no time. My names Morris, but you can call me Cliff. What’s your name?”

She nodded unaware of why every were was dark ‘’D’Nesh ‘’ the Orion ex slave girl replied with a smile on her face.It was the first time someone spoke to her without ordering from the menu ‘’I now work at the dragon bar with Joe the barman he’s nice to me’’ she went on ‘’I don’t dance here to please the men I’m not a slave anymore ‘’.

The security was about to find out more then he bargained for ,she pointed to the CMO who had fallen asleep ‘’She’s Red eyes ,going to have a baby the father is Joe .Looking around D’Nesh shrugged ‘’The beast is not here ,he fights with Joe they hate each other,sometimes the beast plays his guitar and sing at the bar and think Joe is going to poison him .I like Kate she is nice but cries a lot and faints . The dentist ..A..Ade is always gambling and shouts at everyone ,Ginger is the Captain’s cat but I have never seen the one they call the Captain, once Joe wanted to cook him…psst don’t tell anyone but I have seen big cats too they come at the bar, they can talk and even wear cloths! ‘’

Maybe the security could do with a drink.

Faith was laughing too hard. “D’Nesh hasn’t been aboard that long. I think I need to put you at ease Clifford. Dr. Cross might act ‘beastly’ to her, but she isn’t a beast. We do have a couple of Caitians aboard. One is your COS, so I expect you’ve met her? The Captain is certainly around below decks sometimes. I’m his Yeoman. Hi, I’m Faith!”

‘’No..no ‘’ D’Nesh told Faith ‘’Its not Red eyes ,the beast is the man with the blue eyes and long hair ‘’ Faith might be surprised calling Hunter the beast but then again she wasn’t around when all hell broke loose first at the Bar and then in sickbay.

“Really?” Faith asked, “So, Hunter had a fight with Joe in the bar, did he? Well, well! …Hunter is on the planet surface, with the landing party. He’ll not be around in Sickbay for a while as there is no way to beam them back up.”

D’Nesh was more then willing to fill in the details ‘’See the doctor came in and Joe asked him something, the next thing I saw him grabbing poor Joe from his shirt and and nearly pulled him from behind the bar ,then he saw me I had only been here just the day before and that beast got hold of me and brought me here …I was terrified ‘’ little did she know that the doctor was doing her medical.

Cross woke up she had slept for less then half an hour ,swinging her feet of the biobed the CMO had hoped that the ship’s power would have been restored but apparently everything was still the same . Looking around the doctor saw those that came to sickbay had decided to stay there for it was more practical and convenient as they had nowhere else to go and the candles did offer some light .

Cross picked up her stethoscope and went to check on her patients.

Cross listened to Steve’s breathing with her stethoscope ‘’ The partially collapsed lung seem to be inflating ‘’. The patient nodded ‘’I do feel much better , in fact I got my apatite back can I have something to eat !’’ the CMO thought best to ignore him less she looses what little sanity she had left ‘’ Kate shall come and clean your wound from the screwdriver and put on a new dressing ‘’.

She next went to see how the patient who was brought unconscious was doing ,to her surprise he was holding a cup of coffee ‘’Who gave you that? ‘’ she asked pointing to the cup .
‘’Oh it was that kind nurse over there’’ he pointed to Kate ‘’Its cold but I don’t mind ,say doctor I still cannot see properly for your eyes are still red’’ he added.

And that was the straw that broke the camel’s back ‘’That’s because they are red!’’ Cross hollered out ,adding some colorful words in her native language .
