Main Sim - Ardan V - Landing spot

[added missed reply]

Ashley was next to Hunter also right behind the captain as well. Thinking to herself wondering what might happen around their surroundings.

Captain Glen walked straight up to the tall, grey haired and bearded man, who stood in robes in the middle of the chaos, barking out orders, and he asked, “We are here to speak to Advisor Platus-Leader of the Mining Colony on Ardan V please?”

The older, human man turned quickly and his eyes widened as he saw the Starfleet uniforms.

“Arda be praised! Starfleet! You heard us? You received the distress call? Half the time we can’t get anything out of the comms but static! Who are you?” He demanded as it was obvious that the man was under a lot of stress and pressed by time. So much so he wasn’t offering the usual polite introductions.

Hunter rubbed his chin when he heard the Captain saying please, the doctor would have preferred to see Glen grabbing the man from the throat and shaking him instead.

Lance stood at the back he was looking at the any of the displays he could see to see if there was something going on on the miners screens. If the same issue plaguing their communications to the ship

Unfortunately there was nothing on the screens but static. It was apparently what had everyone in a lather. It was obvious that power was making it to the systems but it seemed as if the proper signals or programs were not running on the screens. Technicians were yelling at each other as they reported all conduits and equipment were in working order. They could not understand why nothing was working properly.

Stella stood as ordered at the back of everyone. Thus far the only that had happened was Dr. Creepy putting his hands on her. She looked around at their scenery and sighed. She liked the outdoors and sunshine. She did though miss being at her workstation recording the sounds of the universe. She decided then to go back to scanning anything around her that wasn’t trying to hurt her. She did love to record data and store it.

Unfortunately Stella’s scanner did not appear to be scanning anything. It was if it was being entirely jammed now too.

“I am James T Kirk of the Federation starship USS Merrimack,” Captain Glen replied. “Yes, Starfleet did hear your distress call and we have been sent here to help your colony. My ship and crew are at your disposal, although we are also experiencing intermittent communications problems too… But you’ll need to tell us exactly what the problems are here… these acts of sabotage, unexplained equipment failures, and you still have me at a disadvantage… You now know my name, but I still don’t know your name, and we were told to report first to an Advisor called Platus? Is he still the administrative head of Ardan Five? And please can we go inside somewhere? It’s a little hectic and chaotic out here to talk or to have a very productive discussion.”

OOC: James T Kirk? Is there a reason the Captain is using a fictitious name?;)
OOC: Er… That was a complete mistake… a brain fart! I was just thinking to myself, “what would James T Kirk do?” because the Horta episode was a little like this. And I was in a hurry! Ditto about the “inside” thing. However, rather than change it, and since everyone has replied, I guess I’ll have to keep it and think of a reasonable reason.

IC: Hunter followed he needed to know what was going on ,when Glen introduced himself as James T Kirk the doctor’s jaw fell open though he was quick to compose himself, maybe the Captain did so on purpose or something was effected his line of thought…whether it was the first or the latter it definitely bothered Hunter.

“I’m Platus!” The man grumbled. “Inside? You are inside!” The frazzled man grumbled as he glanced at the Captain askance.

“Inside a conference room or somewhere out of this busy corridor,” Glen replied. “That’s what I meant.”

“Are you feeling alright, Captain? As to being Kirk? Seriously? You were named after Captain Kirk?” He kept glancing at the Captain askance as he turned and led them back towards the doors where it might be a bit quieter to talk and hear each other. He hollered a few commands to his techs as he paused near the doors which opened as they neared them.

Glen followed him though the doors. “Ah! Good to find you Platus at last! So you’ve heard of Kirk then?” Glen laughed, “I’m actually Captain John T Glen, but I do share his middle name. Mining colonies such as yours are of vital importance to the Federation, and Starfleet makes them a high priority. If you know of Kirk, then you’ll know that he very quickly solved the problems on Janus Six which were also thought initially to be supernatural in origin. They had similar breakdowns and sabotage of equipment but a perfectly good reason was found. Now can you tell me what precisely doesn’t work here any longer?”

“Only bloody things that are still working as they are not powered. Just pressure, vacuum sensored so they open by pressure sensors.” He mumbled then he stopped and turned to face the Captain again.

“And when did this all begin?” Glen asked.

“Alright, we been here six months. Just finally finished getting everything set up and working. All the buildings were here when we got here, abandoned from the last mining attempt. I got the mining rights for a song, given the rumors about this place. Put out the call for miners and settlers. Amazing really that this many people answered and came here. I came with a core group of about a thousand. Men and women that worked with me before. Everything was fine, we got the old equipment up and running, pulled ore and sent out shipments. Then it started a few weeks ago. Tools, supplies started going missing. Then equipment started to have problems, stopped running or were sabotaged. People started to go missing. Now the power seems affected. The generators are all fine! No reason for them not run, but no power.” He shook his head. “I am beginning to think it is ghosts…except equipment, tools and people don’t go missing on their own! And the dreams…people are complaining about their dreams of all the stupid things. I think the rumors are getting to them.”

The doctor listened attentively to every word ,apparently so much had been going on but what bothered him most was the fact that people were disappearing .

’’ Captain maybe you should ask what other species have or are still here?’’ . For Hunter to believe in ghosts ,entities or whatever was contrary to reason, truth or logic in a few words it was totally absurd.

“We hadn’t been made aware that people were going missing,” Glen told Platus, “nor about any dreams. We’ll want details of those, and also whether any dead bodies have been recovered. We’ll also need a breakdown of when and where your equipment broke down and your people went missing. We’ll need a complete subsurface chart of all the drifts, galleries and tunnels, and my Doctor suggests a complete list of your employees and their species would be helpful too.”

With all the commotion around him, Sharp simple stood where he could visibly see the Captain and the people trying to fix what ever was going on.

Sharp sec.

Stella looked at the captain pretending to be a totally different captain and then listened to the man running the mine. A smile slowly came to her face and she shook her head. She looked off toward the jungle and murmured more to herself than anyone else. ” Hoodoos”

“We’ll need somewhere we can work,” Glen told Platus. “Could we use this room?”

  • Glen, CO

M’Mera chewed on her lip as she listened to the recitation, “Any ssignss of a sstrruggle orr asssault?” She muttered to the colony leader?” She didn’t like the sounds of disappearing people as well as tools or equipment. Definitely sounded like it sabotage or terrorism like behaviour. When she’d studied up on the planet it had explicitly stated there were no native inhabitants here. No one knew what happened to them if there had been any.

Lieutenant Walker stood there listening to everything that was going on. Not sure what to do or what to do with her equipment. She stood there confused a little bit not knowing what to do.
