On arrival at the Bridge he told Eros Dionysovich, “Set a course for Ardan V. Take us out, one eighth impulse. And then, on my mark, Warp factor 5!”

Eros typed in the commands and set the course. As he did so, he replied, “Aye, sir. Course to Ardan V has been plotted and proceeding 1/8 impulse power.”

A moment later, he added, “Warp 5, on your mark, Captain.”

It was only a 30ly journey from K5 to Ardan V and the Merrimack easily made the trip uneventfully in 4.6 hours. M’Mera had made valiant attempts to raise the mining colony with no luck. It would appear that the communication problems that had plagued the colony had only gotten worse.

“Lt. Dionysovich, take us into standard orbit, with an altitude of 80 km,” Glen said. “Calculate an orbital speed to match.”

“Lt. Gagnon, take over from M’Mera and continue trying to raise the colony,” Glen said. “Keep all channels open!”

“Lt. Malone, scan the surface for lifeforms, buildings and mining spoil,” Glen asked. “See if we can locate a township of some kind!”
