At the bar Joe hummed to himself. Everything was perfect in his little portion of the universe. He had spent the previous night being interrogated by Cross about his family which admittedly seemed to have no bounds when compared to the usual modern-day family. He was at the moment tapping out the news to send to his mother that she may soon become a grand mam yet again which would bring the number to somewhere close to infinity.

Meanwhile D’Nesh was keeping the morning people amused and supplied with plenty of hot tea and coffee. Then of course there was the odd breakfast menu this morning which featured egg scramble served with choice of chorizo, farmer sausage, or Vulcan Faux meat sausage. (Bland taste guaranteed) There were also various breads with spreads and one thing that Joe was starting to run a bit low on fresh fruit. Joe kept getting his attention drawn to D’Nesh though. For some reason the girl had chosen to put bright red sprinkles across green skin.

Cross entered the Dragon bar ‘’ Joe please some food before I drop dead ‘’ then knowing he would most probably bring her some of his ‘nutritious’ food ‘’Macaroni and cheese ‘’ she ordered.

Seeing Miri come in and order, so something meant to mock him in his efforts to get her to eat better simply smiled and nodded his head as he said,” Yes ma’am one Wonderful Mac and cheese coming up!” Joe seemed to take his time back in the kitchen and after awhile D’Nesh came out and walked across to wait on another group of people. She was smiling broadly as she looked over at Miri .

Cross smiled back accompanied by a small wave of her hand,the CMO was more then glad to see the young Orion woman settled and happy.

A few moments later Joe came out and placed a large bowl in front of Miri. ” There you go my dear. Whole wheat macaroni covered lavishly thick creamy Colby jack cheese and to top everything off we have peas, and carrots. ” Joe then stepped back away from her and asked her in a loving tone. ” Have you had a bad day dear?”

‘’No everything seem to be fine up until now ,say I never had Mac and cheese with peas and carrots ‘’but she shrugged her shoulders and starting to eat ‘’Say Joe if you don’t mind me asking , have you by and chance had time to contact your family ?’‘.

Joe laughed and said simply, ” Yes it took me two hours, but I accomplished the task. Stopping to think for a moment he asked Miri, ” Say I almost forgot would you like me to print you out a list of your soon to be family? I’ll make it easy on you and just give you the immediate family. They only number forty-nine. Oh, and mama wants to know how to cook a good potato pancake. I didn’t know so I just told her it was the best ever! “

With fork in hand and her mouth already open Cross stopped and stayed like that for a couple of seconds ‘’ Your mother does not know how to make a simple potato pankcake ?’’ she asked, now wondering what kind of a woman her soon to be mother in-law was .This got her thinking was she going to hand over her precious baby to someone whom she did not know ?.

Not wanting to hurt Joe’s feelings the doctor suggested that maybe it would be better to give the child to one of his siblings ‘’No I don’t need a list, what I want is for you to make the best choice as who will care and nurture our child ,beside grandma’s find it hard to keep up with raising a baby’‘.

Joe closed one eye and cocked his head at Miri’s question. ” I think you misunderstood dear.” Joe began as he finished up cleaning a glass. ” My mother knows that she can make a potato pancake. She did it for a family of thirteen for a good number of years. The question I suspect was a trick one. She was asking if YOU could make a potato pancake. So, I just told her yes. And before you say that you can. ” Joe paused and smiled. I think you should know that my mom’s regular potato pancakes are pretty special.”
