“The Excelsior a few years back ignited sirillium in a nebula to escape a Klingon ship, it was enough to disable the warship. If the Trudograd was just a medical frigate, combat capable or not, it’s likely not as structurally solid as a Klingon warship but it’s likely more capable of withstanding a reaction from sirillium than a colonial ship would be.” Xavier leaned forward, “By the way, SS Gas Bug? Seriously? Does her Captain have no shame?”

”..As your Lieutenant explained, it is more the Sirillium that will be the issue, however, we have found that when helium and trionium in The Honey Pot mixes with minute amounts of the Sirillium it can cause an enrichment that makes the more volatile then normal. Because of the problems with shielding in the nebula your Rodium armor plating will make you more resilient to any unexpected harm then say the Trudograd would have been.” He explained.

”..As for the Gas bag?” Grafton shrugged, “..Who can say, the merchant ships normally keep the routes in the nebula or its fringes that mainly contain higher traces of helium or trionium for harvesting, they also use modified probes and mineral gathering drones to avoid direct entry.” He said.

Both Cross and Hunter stood quiet since it was not their expertise in what was being said, though that did not mean that they weren’t interested on the rest of those present with more knowledge about the subject .

It did however crossed their minds that should the lost ship would be located ..........sickbay would play a big part.

“Lieutenant Mullins? Do you have further questions or anything to add about the shields and shield operation?” Glen asked his Chief Engineer.

Max thought for a second but knew based on the information he had about the nebula, he responded, “Captain, based on the data I have right now and of known nebulas, it does not seem to be anything new and the shields are not going to work based on the data. I would like to have some full scans ran once we get there before we enter just to make sure there is nothing which was missed in the report.” He knew not having shields could be scary but they were useless and could cause issues in a nebula.

“Okay, so the primary mission is to rescue the Trodograd and survivors or else discover it’s fate. The secondary mission is to continue the Trodograd’s own mission to investigate the Risan signal. I’m presuming that the Risan’s aren’t missing a ship themselves?”

• This mission is becoming complicated by the minute * Cross thought.

Miriam might need to stock up on additional respiratory medical equipment and supplies for this mission, thought Glen.

”..Correct captain. Find the Trudograd or its remains, assist if able and determine its fate. The signal of Risan origin is also a priority to find its source, likely if you find one you will find the other nearby given the Trudograd’s last transmission as I said earlier was nearing where they suspected it originated from.” He said, “..As for the Risan’s report on any missing ships? No they have none reported. All ships for the colony nearby and any within several light years of here have checked in to confirm none are known to be missing..” He added.

“Okay, I think that is clear,” Glen concluded, “Anyone have any further questions before we return to the Merrimack and get going?”

Max looked up from his PADD and said to the captain, “I have nothing else at this point. I would like all engineering and scientific data on the nebular sent to my office in main engineering please. I would love to try and find a good way to keep the ship out of harms way as best as possible. Thank you.” Max knew this was not going to be easy, especially with having to have the shields down while in the nebula. No one ever knew what might happen. He waited for additional orders from the captain.

“The data can be uploaded to the ship’s library computer for you,” Glen let Max know.

Hunter had already whispered to Cross, that sickbay has to be prepared especially since all communications had stopped from the lost ship .The CMO understood through experience that cargo with medical supplies had been boarded onto the Merrimack from the station.... everything they need would be in possession and available.

“Well,” concluded Captain Glen, “that seems to be very clear. If there are no further questions then I think we return to the Merrimack and allow Commander Grafton to get on with his own busy schedule. I just have one or two announcements to make. I have secured the employment of Joe Milligan as barman in the Forecastle and Fantail Lounges. I’m sure many of you will remember him as the Merrimack ex-XO or ex-Chief of Security, but he has retired from Starfleet now, and was more recently managing the Green Dragon bar on DS K-5, which many of you are very familiar with. He is looking forward to welcoming you all to the bars and I’m sure he will have some new ideas and entertainment lined up for you. We say goodbye to the retired Ship’s Midwife, Morag McHoan, who helped Andromeda du Astra to deliver my own son on the Merrimack, as well as Bre Davis to deliver her child. We also say goodbye to Lieutenant Saelk, out outgoing Vulcan Chief Science Officer. Please welcome our new CSO, Xavier Khauv, and Xenobiologist, Lance Malone. Meeting dismissed.

Max was always happy to have new folks on the ship, or even ones that were returning. He then responded, “Welcome new members. I hope to be able to work with you. Look forward to getting to know you.” Max then waited to hear if anyone else had anything else or if they would be dismissed. He was ready to finish going over the diagnostic that he started before he was called away. He was hoping everything was in tip top shape but one never knew what might be missed.
