A day early for his official Duty check-in, Xavier stood on one side of the office he had been told was used by the Executive Officer. The last of the official check-ins he had to complete before being approved for duty aboard the Merrimack, he now wore the ships Uniform rather than his casual clothes from his medical appointment.

He found it fairly fortuitous that he had indeed boarded and set himself up early, as scuttlebug was on the rounds that the ship was about to have its’ R&R cut short by another Starfleet paperweight thinking their orders were more important than a crews ability to get whatever baggage from their last mission out of their system. Whatever the case may be, Xavier knew by reputation that the Merrimack was a professional enough ship to work past that.

That professionalism was led by the ships Command crew first and foremost so, making sure the uniform was sitting right and that his boots were on the right feet, he pressed the door chime to announce that the XO had a visitor, if she was in.

The door glided open with a soft hiss, revealing a small but meticulously organized office space that was adorned with artwork and artifacts from the rich and storied continent of Africa. Verity was seated behind her desk, fully engrossed in a data PADD. Her long, jet-black hair was secured in a tight bun, and she donned the standard Starfleet officer’s uniform in blue as she used to be the CSO of the Merrimack before she was the First Officer.
She looked up from her work, her deep, observant eyes narrowing for a moment as she studied Xavier before a welcoming smile brightened her face.
“Ah, Lieutenant Khauv, isn’t it?” Verity acknowledged. “You’re right on time. I’ve been reviewing your record. Please, take a seat. You’ve arrived sooner than expected, and you seem ready to dive into your duties. Shall we proceed without delay?”
