OOC: I am going to start the thread with the shuttle.

IC: IN the shuttle, the away team could see the difference between the Merry and the Genesis. Besides the size, the outward appearance showed the difference between the technologies. The Merry looked more like a something from a steampunk novel with the rough square edges when compared to the smooth lines of the Genesis.

Another thing about the difference of technologies was the time it took for the Merry’s shuttle bay’s doors to open. It took an inordinate amount of time, especially to one from Starfleet, for the doors to open and close.

Julien was straining in his seat to get a glance out of the window.
“I don’t think we have to be afraid. These bulkheads don’t look like they can block our transporter beam.” he said, looking at David for confirmation.

“We go in unarmed.” he added. We can’t shoot them anyhow if they want to take our phasers from us when we come in and I don’t want to leave such an advanced technology in their hands. “Besides, they don’t know about the fact that me and Marishka are armed in a non-obvious way. Sage does the shuttle scanner grab their physiology by now? I’m quite eager to know about any advantages they may have…”

Marishka studied the ship as they aproached. Secretly she was pleased to have added a few extra weapons while dressing this morning. Peace where at all possible she understood but, sometimes, things just spiraled out of control. And with what David had whispered, she was on heightened alert.

Julien threw a side glance to Marishka. She looked … pleased. Then it dawned on him.
“Lt. Marishka, with ‘non-obvious’ weapons I did not mean anything hidden that a metal detector or something the like may find. First contact situations are very delicate, I can’t have them finding hidden weapons on you.” he said, trying to keep the slight amusement he felt out of his voice. With hidden weapons he had actually meant her skills as a fighter and her pheromones… although he did not really want her to use them on strange men if he was being honest with himself. But anyhow… so far all they knew about the aliens was that they were humanoid.
