OOC: I am going to suggest that each of us can make up questions in these categories and pose them to the group. I am also going to suggest that we make the answer googlable. Is Googlable even a word lol? It is now. Anyway, we can have people answer them when they reply so it has a game like feel. Sound good? Give me a thumbs up to this message so we all know the rules of the Jeopardy game.

Entering the lounge, everyone would see the space that they were supposed to head to for the event. A large colorful banner with the words Freddy’s Friends hung across several tables. Latex balloons adorned several tables with small PaDD’s set out at each seat. While they were in the lounge and food was readily available at the proverbial snap of the fingers. two large tables were set up with snacks set out as if it were a party. The moment Vanessa walked into the door, Federik’s eyes locked on her. “Vanessa. You have no idea how pleased I am to see you.” He opened and closed his hands like a chubby toddler waiting for a treat as he beckoned her forward.

“Hello Commander,” Vanessa said reaching out and taking his hands. Squeezing them she felt the knot of dread filling her. This crew was going to hate her by default of association with this man. “I am just going to sit back here so that everyone that is new gets a front row seat.”

“No problem they should all be coming soon,” he looked at his watch. “Don’t want to go have to round them up.”

Calvin walked into the lounge and seeing the corned spun on his heel immediately with a sharpness that cut the air like a blade. It would have been an about face that would have made any drill sergeant proud at the academy. Unfortunately they were not on the parade field. His turn resulted in him knocking into a group of JO’s that were following him too closely. The commotion attracted Freddy and a voice broke through the commotion like an old fashion PA system.

Calvin Marius CO

“Captain my captain,” Freddy’s replied walking towards Marius with the same arm extension. His hands opened and closed like a chubby toddler’s reaching for something desired. “You don’t know how happy you have made me coming down here.”

Linking his arm through Calvin’s as if the Captain was escorting him into an event. “The last ship I was on was the USS Atlantis and that crew,” he rolled his eyes. “I swear Captain Bordeaux made me hunt her down like I was a Marine on a mission.” The mention of the Marines was intentional. Freddy had done his research and know Marius had spent time in the corp.

“I’m sure everyone on board knows I’m the fun Captain.” There was nothing in his tone or expression suggested that he was about to, currently is, or had ever been known as a fun Captain.

Marius

“Well of course you have to hide that heart of gold under the shining armor of leadership,” he patted Marius’ chest hearing a dull thump. The Captain’s physique was always well hidden under the Starfleet uniform however in the gym or now, it was a clear indication that he could probably snap Fred’s neck like a toothpick. “That is why you will be the co host in my little game of Federation Jeopardy.” Letting go of the Captain’s arm, Freddy clicked a button and the wall PaDD showed the characteristic five columns with numerical values attached to each one. The categories were listed as: Starfleet Shenanigans, Aliens Behaving Badly,
Technobabble Trouble, Klingon Karaoke, Random Redshirt Facts from those serving with Captain James T Kirk.

“Captain if you would start us off or anyone else,” he said looking around the room.

The doors to the lounge hissed open once more, and for a moment, there was only the quiet shuffle of boots and the muted sound of robes brushing against the floor.

Edelu entered with the bearing of a man accustomed to restraint, contemplation, and perhaps the occasional whispered chant over an injured patient. He paused at the threshold, his expression composed as ever, eyes scanning the colorful room—balloons bobbing gently, party snacks laid out, and a glowing banner with the words “Freddy’s Friends.”

He had, of course, reviewed the crew manifest when coming aboard, and Commander Federik had not escaped his notice. There was something… exuberant about the man, in the way a hypospray is effective. Unavoidable.

“Oh oh oh,” Freddy clapped his hands with the exhuberance of a small child. “We have another one. Come on down here Mr,” he let his voice trail off as he studied the man. “Edelu.” It was not hard to deduce it was the medical chief based on his uniform color and genetic background. The crew manifest stated he was a Minaran and the man moving towards the group was that. “I am so glad you are here. We are just about to play a game,” he gestured to the board.

Edelu’s eyes slid to the board at the front. Federation Jeopardy.

His brow rose a single centimeter. The categories:
Starfleet Shenanigans.
Aliens Behaving Badly.
Technobabble Trouble.
Klingon Karaoke.
Random Redshirt Facts from those serving with Captain James T. Kirk.

The corner of his mouth twitched.

He stepped forward suddenly, to the front of the room. Without preamble, Edelu’s deep, even voice rang out:

“I’ll take Technobabble Trouble for 200.”

There was a collective blink from the crowd.

The Mintakan physician folded his arms, a calm, almost zen-like smile playing at the edges of his expression.

“Well I am out of this round,” Vanessa stated holding up a finger for the waitress. “Sam Adams,” she said leaning back into her seat.

“What?” he said softly, eyes gleaming. “I studied.”

“I did not,” Vanessa laughed and took a sip of her drink. “It is all yours big guy.”

Calvin looked down at a card for a moment, “Science officers are trying to avoid this, when they ‘need to recalibrate the phase variance on the inverse tachyon beam before it destabilizes the temporal flux matrix!’ Calvin voice raised impressively when he hit the final few words as if he were worried about the possible destabilization.

Marius

“English please,” Vanessa let out a chuckle. “What you said,” she made a sweeping motion with palm face down over her head. A small smile spread over her face. Everyone hated these ice breakers but they did tend to work. The strong desire to excel had Calvin holding the card closer to his body and slightly covered. There was definitely going to be no cheating with him however this was not a team game so she was SOL.

Calvin saw her slight lean towards him as she adjusted in her seat. Leaning towards her as if he wanted to impart a secret, Calvin placed a hand on the edge of the chair and pushed her over an inch. It was symbolic but also playful. He had played enough games in the Lounge with the counselor to know the slight adjustments would grow in size until she could possibly steal a peek at his card and the answer. “Edelu you gonna take a crack at this?”

Calvin Marius CO

Dagen had been sitting near the back, hunched a little forward and palms together between his knees. This was a new game. Someone nearby had whispered that it was not unlike an ancient game once played on Terra. He smiled at the question. That was a rather hard question for being the first in the rank. He presumed that the questions would only get harder and this one was not an everyday occurrence. He smiled though, guessing the answer, and wondering if they would get it.
- Dagen, CE

From out of no where a voice spoke to Dagen from his right. “Not going to take a crack at this cheif engineer,” Freddy said in a low tone but one that usually was reserved for those someone called a friend. Having never met this man it might have felt like a ghost had snuck up beside him.

“I find these little games show me who is outgoing and who is more introverted. Not saying you are either but you are a sly one. Sneaking in here and sliding in the back corner as if I would not see you.” Freddy playfully bumped Dagen’s shoulder with his in a friend like teasing gesture. “I see all though. Just remember that.”

Freddy

Edelu tilted his head, considering the question as if it were a particularly delicate case study in a medical journal. He let the silence stretch just long enough to suggest deliberation, then stepped forward, hands still calmly folded behind his back.

“What is… a staff meeting?”

He delivered it with perfect neutrality, but the twinkle in his eye gave him away.

A subtle pause. Then, as if offering a footnote:

“In my experience, nothing inspires temporal instability quite like administrative obligation.”

He allowed a flicker of a smile to surface—wry, quiet, but unmistakably satisfied.

Dagen laughed. How true!! He looked good naturedly at Freddie. “Not you?” he asked. “It’s funny. The answer brings to mind some ludicrous holo Sticks showed me back at the Academy. Ghostbusters. Don’t cross the stream!” He said this quietly. “I’ll give someone a chance at this one.”

“MMmm,” Calvin glanced down at the card for a moment, but then spoke as if he knew the answer all along, “I’m sorry that’s not the right question.” He paused looking around the lounge. Anyone could try to steal now.

“What is inverse tacyon pulse,” Vanessa suddenly blurted out after taking a sip of her drink. She threw her hands up as if they had just watched the socring point in an athletic game.

Vanessa Slade CNS

“Clever girl,” Dagen said quietly.
- Dagen

Hearing his comment, Vanessa turned her head and gave Dagen her best velociraptor snarl, paired with a small clawing of the air with her fingers. She followed it up with a wink before assuming her previous posture.

Edelu’s brows lifted a fraction at Vanessa’s outburst, the corners of his mouth softening into a faint, approving curve.

“Well done, Counselor,” he said, his tone mild but carrying a hint of amusement. “You’ve just spared us from cascading chroniton particles and a week of temporal nausea.”

He inclined his head slightly toward Calvin. “I’ll concede the round to a more… precise practitioner of technobabble.”

Then, as if filing the moment away like a patient’s chart, he added dryly, “Though I maintain my answer has equal preventative merit.”

“No offense Slade but how the hell did you know that?” Since this was technically an off duty activity, Calvin assumed a more informal manner to address the counselor. It was not that he doubted her intelligence. Most Starfleet officers had above average intelligence. It was more that Vanessa’s strengths lay in the biology and medical areas over engineering.

“I have two talents. One,” she held up a finger, “trivia nights. I am the random facts girl that is just that. Random facts I store up here.” She tapped her temple and added, “it is a steel trap.”

“Two,” she raised her second finger, “while I am not the rabbit in the race, I am the tortoise that always finishes a marathon.” She let that sink in for a moment before adding to her statements. “Beer also helps too. It like fuels the generator,” she made a thumbs up gesture and lifted it slowly, miming filling something up. Picking up her Sam Adams, she made a rolling motion for the game to continue.

“Well well well this game is really picking up,” Freddy clapped his hands together and rubbed them excitedly. “Lt. Slade… you get the next category.”

Vanessa scanned the boards and settled on, “I will take Klingon Karaoke for 100,” she said. Getting the card she read the clue for the rest of the people in the room. “What is the traditional Klingon drinking song, performed most often in the lounge of Deep Space Nine by Lt. Worf and Lt. Dax that is basically the Empire’s version of a bachelor party anthem?”

Vanessa Slade CNS

OOC: Thumbs up!

IC: Edelu’s brow furrowed ever so slightly at the names, though not in recognition—more in mild curiosity.

“I have never heard of this Lieutenant Worf, nor Lieutenant Dax,” he admitted, his tone neither embarrassed nor apologetic. “Deep Space Nine I know of only as a… transit point of some importance. Klingon drinking songs, however…” He let the sentence trail, as if mentally sifting through the handful he’d encountered.

After a moment’s thought, he gave a faint shrug. “Nothing I know seems fit for a bachelor celebration—unless one counts the kind where someone ends up in Sickbay.”

“Where all Drunken Warriors end up,” she gave a hint to the song’s english pronounciation.

He leaned back, glancing toward the bar and raising two fingers to discreetly flag a waiter. “Perhaps I will ponder it over a drink. The answer may come to me… or not.”

“Oh come on,” she said and began to hum a few bar. Since it was a Klingon song, the hum was more of a growl but it might have given someone a hint.
