While Ashley was thinking to herself after everything that had happened in her sickbay and she doesn’t even know what’s going on. She had then went to the captains ready room not knowing what to do. But she knows what she wants to ask him.

“Come,” Calvin said hearing someone at his ready room door.

Marius

“Hello sir. Might I talk to you about something sir?” She said wanting to know about something for her department.

CMO Logan

“Sure Lt. Have a seat,” he gestured to a chair across from him “What do you want to talk about?”

Marius CO

“Well sir I wanted to talk to you about sickbay. I know it’s just me. But I was thinking I get a better staff if it’s a possibility. I mean it’s your call sir. It’s your ship and I know sickbay is my department but I wanted to see what we can do.” She said to the captains not sure what might happen. Only reason why she asked is because it is only her.

“Are you not able to handle the work or are you looking to transfer someone off the ship?”

Marius CO

She started to say. “No. Just looking at getting some Junior Officers when we can. So it’s not just me in sickbay. You know as if there was a major medical emergency after a battle or something like that, you know. It would be great to have a good medical team.” She tried to explain.

“The bigger the team the greater the responsibilities.” He tilted his head. “I’d love for you to have a ‘good’ medical team, but size isn’t everything, but I agree your staff is too small for a ship this size. I can only request staff from Starfleet. There are never any promises that they’d approve of more crew. We do have several crew that are cross-trained. Lt Slade is and was a registered nurse before she went into counseling. I am not sure her certifications are up to date however in an emergency I don’t think any crew would be scrutinizing her credentials.”.

She looked at him thinking if it was a good idea. “Sir. I think I should go and talk to her but then again. You’re not wrong who knows if her certifications are up. But I however do agree. The bigger the team the more responsibilities I’ll have. I’m not asking for a big team at all. Just maybe 2 or 3 people is all I’m looking at not a big team nor a small team. I think 2 or 3 people would be great for me as for team size.” She explained to the captain thinking that it could work.

“I would love to give you more staff but unless Starfleet grants it, you will have to do with what is assigned to you,” Calvin stated.

“I understand captain.” She stated back. “It was worth a try. You know.” She added.

“Of course, and I like the initiative,” Calvin stated. “But unfortunately you are trying with the wrong officer. If you happen to have friends at command or from the Academy who you can convince to ask for a transfer.” He paused. “Is there anything else?”

“No sir. That will be all. Sorry to have bothered you.” She said at the captain with a nice smile.

“There is no reason to be a sorry and you are never a bother,” Calvin stated closing out the meeting. The officer was young but eager. Calvin could almost remember being that young and hungry.

“Yes sir. Understood. If you ever need to see me I’ll be in sickbay. Or the holodeck. Or even the mess hall getting lunch or something. Or if it is medical related please don’t hesitate to come by and say hi or something like that.” She said as she looked over her shoulder and looked at him with a smile. Knowing that she is open to talk to someone or even giving her medical professional opinion to him. However, at the same time, she knows that she doesn’t want to overstep.
