Upon reaching the hangar there were not one but two options for the nine crew members to use for Transport to the surface. One was the Captain’s yacht and the other was one of the Armadillo-class shuttlecraft. It was up to any of the nine crew arriving at the hangar which ship they chose to go down to the surface in.

Magnus looked good in a dress uniform, of course in his humble opinion he looked good in any uniform but there was something about the stiffness of the dress whites that he felt really brought out his good qualities of which he possessed many. The only thing he truly disliked about wearing the Dress Uniform was the fruit salad hanging on his chest, he wasn’t greatly fond of showing off whatever achievements he had received in his nearly thirty years of service. Medals and ribbons of commendation and service, service pins from his duties with the Diplomatic Corps and during the Dominion War including the Christopher Pike Medal of Valor. He was hoping that his broadly built commanding officer would bring his own salad bowl full and not skimp.

He stood with hands on hips and critically examined the two vessels and without looking around said “So we’re taking the yacht right?” He said with a broad grin on his face “I mean dress to impress and fly to blow minds”

XO

“We can’t all pile into the yacht that will defeat the purpose of taking two ships.” He actually nodded at Magnus’ Medal of Honor before even looking about the room.

OOC: I just looked at the ship specs I don’t think we’re supposed to have a yacht… but I’ll go along with the plan.

OOC: As the Manhattan-class designer, no, I didn’t explicitly add a captain’s yacht. That said, ED policy is that anything not explicitly written in a spec is assumed to be of Galaxy-class standard… and the Ent-D did have a yacht, even though we rarely (never?) saw it on-screen, so handwave yes, the ship has a Captain’s yacht. :)

“Um yes,” Vanessa stated coming up from behind the XO to stand at his side. While the crew had been ordered to show up in dress uniform, being a counselor meant Vanessa had more options. She could forgo the strict dress uniform denoting power, authority and rank with more civilian attire to allow those around her to see her as typical and approachable. People tended to open up when they were comfortable so her outfit was meant to tease out the true feelings behind what might be polite words. The dress she chose was regulation blue indicating she was part of the counseling staff but that was where any semblance of a uniform went out the window. It was floor-length with one single strap going over her right shoulder to hold the bodies up. The material was a soft satin that made one think of the ocean as it rippled on her body as she walked. The dress was form-fitting but not skin-tight and lacking any adornment aside from a long sash that draped over her neck and ran down the back of the open dress.

“Why would we not show up in style?” Looking over at the XO she took in a long look before responding. “You look good,” and “I call shotgun.”

Marius frowned looking her from head to toe. “I don’t think that is regulation?” He paused remembering what he said on the bridge which was he didn’t care what she wore as long as she could run in it.

“Counseling regulation 2 section 6 subsection paragraph 19 subparagraph 73. Counselors may wear civilian attire to set their clients and make them feel less intimidated by any sense of rank or protocol. While all of you look fabulous,” she gestured around at the officers that arrived, “I need my sunglasses to stop the blinding lights coming off all those medals and awards. All of you look highly impressive and highly intimidating.” Gesturing to her dress, she shrugged. “Nothing intimidating about this and gives me the air of flightly blonde…er brunette. Trust me. This dress will let me talk freely to the servers of the banquet to find out more about this King if we need it.”

“Can you run in that?”

“Pfft,” she waved her hand. “I have nine brothers. Not only can I run but I can hog tie someone with this sash if the occasion calls for it.”

Magnus smiled at the counselor, his most charming grin as usual “I know, usually do but the tight fits bring out the best in me. And the same to you Vanessa, what I would do to get to dress up in civies” He said with a laugh before returning his gaze to the ship and cocked his head “I don’t recall the Genesis being issued with hunting equipment” He said with a quizzical tone looking back at Slade “Does the Captain outfit his yacht with Powder Propellant Firearms?” He asked

XO

“No, but I snuck real whiskey in the supply closets.”

Red stepped off the lift thinking that Dagen would be a few seconds behind her. She didn’t know if he had taken a detour it engineering to bark out some last orders, that would translate into a few minutes but that was fine. Glancing around she saw Vanessa, not hard to miss her and that lovely outfit. Of course Magnus was probably debating which convinced to travel in but it was obvious to her.

“Wow, I knew I should have become a counselor. I guess I wasn’t meant to though. Love that color on you Vanessa. So, I’m guessing we’re taking the shuttle that, while plain on the outside, will make us look absolutely even more stunning than we already are when we step out of it right?”

  • Reia, CIO/Comms

“Well lets put the first five in the yacht and the second four in the shuttle.” Since he was one of the first five he would get the yacht. He according to protocol would not helm the ship, which was probably best since he presumed that most of his command crew were better pilots than him.

Marius

“I call traveling with the whiskey,” Vanessa let out a laugh stepping onto the Captain’s yacht and taking one of the seats farthest back from the cockpit. Nothing fun or interesting ever happened in the front seats of anything.

Dagen slipped in behind the others as they looked to be working on seating assignments. Slipping up to Reia he whispered, “If there’s no room you can sit on my lap. Or we can take a back row and pretend we’re still on vacation?” He winked at her. He had popped back to get a little camera to take some shots if he could of this place and see if it was as good as advertised in their grand holos and if the king popped out from behind every bush that was suggested in the advert.
- Dagen

Reia of frowned and shook her head at Dagen then, she smiled and winked at him. Stepping closer she put her arm around his waist and leaned against him. Their vacation had definitely been fun.

  • Reia, CIO,Comms

Ever the one to dance along the line of regulations, he gave Reia a mock shocked look as she side hugged him. Smiling he clasped her at her shoulder and pulled Reia in for a brief but comforting hug. Then whispered as he let go, “You’ll wrinkle me,” he said, grinning for a moment as he thought of them getting to the planet with strands of Reia’s hair on his dress uniform. Truth to tell this was something that he was happy for Reia to be along with him. He had had precious few first contact anythings much less joining Federation anythings. While he could put up a good formal front and be a good boy he did tend to forget himself in a certain amount of gawking and getting into shop talk with others. He had been around enough people who boasted this or that tech would revolutionize society at large and found it to be more bluster than reality. Something as spectacular as their shield tech would be an amazing boon if they could get it working on their ships but Dagen had a lot of if’s .. and, ultimately, while the diplomats and Captains and such did the niceties Dagen knew it would fall on him to get waist deep into it. It was exciting but it was almost like going into an exam without having actually attended the classes. “Ouch,” he said, looking at Thomas approaching. Did he look that stiff?

Conversely he knew that Reia would be keeping her eyes open doing her intelligency thing, seeing things that meant nothing to Dagen but spoke volumes to her. Sometimes Dagen thought it was her making things up, just as the Earth author for Sherlock Holmes seemed to do. Sometimes he felt that she was a bit of a Sherlock Holmes; her perception on many a thing was uncanny. “Let’s shoot for the yacht,” he said to Reia, nudging her in that direction.

IC: Thomas turned up, walking stiffly in his dress uniform with his mouth set into a thin line and his eyes pinched.

“Where do you want me?” he asked, looking between the two craft.
