Ensign Marjorie Jackson, Medical Officer collected many things, it was an obsession and she had previously spoken about it with the Counsellor on many occasions. Many many occasions. It was almost as though talking about her collections and her habit of collecting things was almost as big an obsession as the actual collecting. There were beads, burnt out isolinear chips, toothpicks, string, frisbees, flip flops and more and they took over her quarters to the extent that there was barely enough room in there for her to sleep, eat and shower. She had a desk in there … somewhere, but where it was was only known to the prophets. But of all her collections, the one that was her pride and joy, one that she could wax lyrical about for hours at a time were one of little globes, some of metal, some of glass, some porcelin, and she counted and recounted them, her complete collection wasn’t there.

So now, Marjorie Jackson, Jacko to friends was outside the Counsellor’s office, and rang the bell with her left hand. Why someone would take her things was beyond her. She knew she didn’t misplace them, she knew she wasn’t losing her marbles, and she hoped that the Counsellor would take her seriously. And besides, she heard the juciest gossip about the Unreal Desperate Housewives of Betazed. And she new that the Counsellor would love to know what she knew.

“Come in,” Vanessa tapped out the last few notes to the file she was working on before closing the window.

“Jacko,” she said warmly getting up to greet the woman and moving to the more comfortable seating area of the office. Vanessa stopped giving the woman things to eat or drink because Vanessa suddenly found herself missing cups on clean up. She could not openly accuse Marjorie so it was better to just not have trinkets lying about.

“So last week we talked about getting rid of ten things. Any ten things…what were they?” Vanessa normally did not start off immediately into therapy but once they got over the purpose of the visit they could spend some time talking about other things.
