Unbeknownst to Vora and Avik, chaos had also erupted on the ship as the same issue that caused their turbolift to malfunction caused a cascade in the EPS. Sparks burst out in junctions before there was an explosion and flames leapt out in the corridors outside Astrometrics where earlier work on the sensor grid had been taking place. The door to Astrometrics flung open as a console inside had erupted in flames and Lieutenant Ki’lain stumbled out into the corridor coughing, the side of her face showing signs of moderate burns.

Alarms went off both in Engineering and on the Bridge.

Lt. (j.g) Zorell, Sciences

Ashlyn and Sharah had been on their way to the observation deck to enjoy some relaxation after a long session of Parkour on the holodeck when the EPS manifold gave way. The shock of the explosion on the deck caused the turbolift to go into an emergency stop and open on deck two. Ashlyn was thankful that it wasn’t between decks as she had no desire to be trapped on a turbolift, but seeing a corridor that was damaged and partially on fire gave rise to a different panic. Time felt like it slowed down as the conference took analysis of the damage, debris, and where the fires were in the corridor. Ashlyn dropped her bag and tore it open to pull out a shirt she stripped and soaked in water, wrapping it around her face to protect her from the smoke. She pulled out her uniform jacket and threw it on to protect herself as best as possible from the fires. “Sharah, prepare a safe place that we can transport from, I’ll see who I can find and help evacuate.” Shortly after she activated her communicator, =^= Trenton to Engineering, Emergency, fires on deck two. Activate fire suppression systems or send instructions for manual activation. Lieutenant Abrams, send additional support when available, Turbolift is stuck on deck 2, use Jefferies Tubes. I’m searching for injured personnel. =^=

Sharah put out a hand to stop Ashton. “Wait.” She opened her med kit she always took to parkour and pulled out her medical tricorder. “Better to know where to go than wander aimlessly. And we need to try and find the fire suppression manual override.” Sharah pointed down the corridor. That area is clear. She pulled out her cover up, ripping it into strips. She poured water over one and tied it in. “We go together. If you find injured I may have to stabilize them first and you will have to keep moving.” =^=Fayth to Sickbay. Prepare for the wounded. Main and auxiliary sickbays on alert. Prepare for smoke, fire, and possible explosive casualties.=^= She nodded to Ashlyn and followed behind her. There was a more accurate way to find anyone on the deck, but it would leave a liability to Ashlyn.

Ashlyn accepted the tricorder and took her friend’s neck in hand so Ashlyn could press her forehead to Sharah’s. “Stay safe and let me know if I start leaving you behind.” She turned and started down the corridor with the Tricorder open looking for the first sign of life it picked up.

Sharah gripped her forearm. “We’re good. Let’s move.” She pulled out the second tricorder and began scanning. They needed that fire suppression system on soon. The chaos around the deck was overwhelming and Sharah couldn’t afford to become distracted. She turned her thoughts to Joseph and what he’d taught her about keeping her mind clear. This would be an interesting letter to send him later. Sharah glanced at her tricorder and then tapped Ashlyn’s left shoulder lightly indicating she had bio signs coming from the next left turn in the corridor.

En Fayth, Doctor

This wasn’t parkour practice, this was an actual emergency and Ashlyn didn’t hold anything back. For how small the woman was, she was very quick on her feet. When signaled, she made the turn into the left corridor and found a door that was clearly on the fritz with a few crewmen inside. Ashlyn isn’t really an engineer so she didn’t have the means to fix the door, however, she was familiar enough with the ship to know how to open it with a manual release lever. The trick was getting the panel off the wall so she could get to the manual release. “I need help or leverage!” She grabbed hold of the panel to try to pry it off by hand if adequate leverage couldn’t be found but she had little hope for this. Ashlyn just isn’t that physically strong.

Sharah opened up her med kit and pulled out a long narrow tool. As Ashlyn pulled the the top of the panel out, she wedged it into the opening and then let Ashlyn use it like a crow bar. She scanned the crewmen trapped inside. She started soaking strips of cloth and passing them through the small opening where the door was jammed. “Put these on and get down below the smoke.” She ordered them. Once Ashlyn got the door open Sharah was inside checking everyone. Other than some smoke they seemed okay. “Go right down the corridor and then right again. There is cleared area left of the turbolift. It’s clear and safe, wait there.” She sent them out, made sure they went the right way and then rejoined Ashlyn. Sharah started scanning again. She shook her head ‘no’ to Ashlyn. She wasn’t picking up anyone else down this way. She got back behind Ashlyn as they kept moving.
En Fayth, Doctor

Coughing would alert the two officers that someone was on the deck. Stumbling in their direction away from Astrometrics, Lt. Ki’lain coughed in all the smoke. Then she passed out.

Having checked the sensors for the situation, Cassidy had made decisions about gear and teams and sent the on their way to support the medical and engineering staff. Arriving on Deck 2, with a rebreather over her face, the COS squinted. But she could see that yes, fire suppression was kicking in. Why it didn’t immediately was a concern, but at least that part was going to be dealt with.

Moving carefully with a bag of supplies slung over her shoulder, Abrams searched out the corridors for people. “Hello? Anyone there? Sound off!” she called out loudly, her voice crisp and clear.

Abrams, COS

Ashlyn came from the right corridor and started rushing down toward Astrometrics, for a very brief moment her eyes took note of the Chief of Security, then snapped to the tricorder in hand, then back to the direction she was traveling and the walls that were hiding relay junctions that may or may not be a danger to be near. The internal conference was busy analyzing all the information at once and it hurt, but Ashlyn was going to push through it while there were still people to help. “Trenton and Fayth are on the move, we heard coughing at Astrometrics, we’re headed that way now. I have six additional bio readings on this deck, two should be heading toward the safe zone by the Turbolift. One is at astrometrics, two more are along the port side corridors, the last one is in their quarters also port side.” Even while shouting this, Ashlyn didn’t stop. Rainns had always stressed that her first duty was to the ship and crew, but when the ship was the problem, the crew came first. There would be no death today if she could help it.
