“I feel like adulthood will be a great eye opener for you. Granted, perhaps tougher than some people’s, but not a bad thing I think. Vulcan can be a very peaceful place for a chaotic mind. I have visited there several times.” She could imagine that the child Fayth had found some comfort there. It had been smart of her parents to go that route. Many that end up born as a telepath and empath become psychotic and non functioning. Some, became extraordinary. “How do you think your extra perceptions are doing in conjunction with your chosen profession?”

Sharah smiled softly and moved towards a rather unique looking plant near where she was sitting, that she hadn’t seen before. Vulcan had been almost as traumatic for her as the rest of her life. She didn’t find comfort in Vulcan at all. However, neither her face, eyes, mind, or emotions betrayed that thought. She turned back to the counselor and contemplated the question. “I don’t use it. Not without express permission from the patient. I have used it to help identify areas and types of discomfort. Often a patient can be confused or not sure how to describe how they are feeling, or what hurts. I’ve used both my telepathy and empathy to help them, but not without their permission. My professors that my ability to use their thoughts and feelings to pinpoint a diagnosis a gift. But they were under the impression I was using those talents when I was not. I think though that my own struggles for help and diagnosis have made me more emphatic towards my patients. My own natural empathy certainly drove me to be a doctor. When I was young, it was painful and scary to feel the hurt of all those around me, and not be able to stop from feeling it. And I had a need to help make their pain stop, and so I learned from my doctors how to do that.”

Since Fayth was locked down, Sienna was not privy to her discomfort about Vulcan. Was this something that would caused her mental pain and possible consequences later? SIenne could not help if the people she was trying to help would not be truthful with her. So, unknowing of the possible pain of her patient, she continued. “Being a doctor was some of the most rewarding of my life despite the fact part of it was during a war. In Star Fleet there are many ways to find purpose, but I am very partial to helping others directly such as doctors and psychiatrists do rather than through advancement of science and technology. I suppose you could call me a more hands on helper in that way.” She smiled. It was obvious that she enjoyed her job and had a real passion for it.”

“I think that is all the questions I feel necessary to ask. Is there anything you would like to ask me about me, about the ship, about your career, about your psychological needs? I am a pretty open book and glad to help in any way I can.”

“I have been seeing psychologists all my life. We will be spending a lot of time together,” Sharah really was an open book. She had private thoughts, like anyone else, and despite her doctors always describing her as open and honest, Sharah was a very private person. With most people she was quiet and shy appearing, but she’d spent her life with doctors and had no such problems with them, “There will be things I will want to talk about, that I will HAVE to talk about. It’s part of the treatment for my condition. And although the arboretum, any arboretum really, is the second most comfortable place I know, there are topics I don’t feel comfortable discussing in such an open area where others can hear, or even perceive to hear.” And Sharah ever the professional doctor, “I would assume that if there was anything I needed to know about you, as it concerns how you approach my treatment, you would tell me. Anything else is your prerogative to disclose as you feel comfortable. Respect for personal space, physical and mental, is an important priority to me.”
