Cassidy nodded. “Thank you, Commander,” she said as she accepted the tricorder and the hyposprays. “Come on, let’s do this quick,” she said, leading her mother to the side where they were out of the way. Every bed was necessary at the moment and she didn’t want to get in the way of the medical staff.

Meanwhile, people were being assessed. Her father, (also Lieutenant Abrams), was being looked over. He had suffered some internal bleeding during the escape from the ship when trying to get patients to safety, as well as a dose of radiation poisoning when the Tian An Amen’s Sickbay had several explosions. Add to that prolonged radiation exposure on the planet and his body was not able to deal with the injuries well, even after the bleeding in his liver and spleen was at least partially dealt with despite not being able to conduct surgery. But the more detailed scans available to them on the Europa showed that he had a small hepatic tear that had been very slowly leaking blood and impairing the function of his left kidney. The radiation poisoning had also begun to damage his DNA.

A few beds over, Captain Massey’s head wound had not only resulted in a skull fracture but a serious traumatic brain injury. She still had not regained consciousness and was showing no signs of active brain activity beyond minimal autonomic functions. The radiation has also impacted her body’s ability to conduct repairs.

“I’ll.take Captain Massey first,” Zeke said. Zeke had mostly recovered from his own injury. He still had a wicked black eye. He wasn’t too sure where he got that from. But it could always be treated later.

“Has the EMH.been activated yet?” he asked as he got his tools ready.

CMO

“Not so far,” Cassidy said, but I think there hasn’t been a rush of critical cases. The rest of the TAM’s crew is dispersed between the other two ships.”

“I think we can handle it,” one of the doctors, Ensign Sandra Bass, called out as she double-checked Adir’s vitals. “We’ll need to have two operating bays working. Lieutenant Adir can’t wait.”

Cassidy surveyed the situation. She didn’t want to be pacing about the med bay waiting and she doubted her mother would want to either. “Maybe we should just let them work. They’ll call me as soon as there is anything to know,” she said gently.

Norene exhaled deeply and nodded, glancing at Lt. Marsh and Commander Abrams. “It would probably be a good idea to at least say hello to your captain.”

“And then maybe a shower, food and rest?” Cassidy suggested.

“Uh huh, that too probably,” Commander Abrams said with a tiny wry smile.

OOC: FYI, Mike has been declared AWOL and removed from the ship. A new CMO search is underway. If that doesn’t look like it’s going to be quick I might jump in with the EMH.

Seeing that things were at least somewhat in hand, the Abramses left Sickbay, though it was Cass who looked over her shoulder one last time before the doors closed.

OOC: It’s that side sim I explained to you in Discord. Let me know if you have specific questions, but at this point there are two surgeries to happen simultaneously: Adir (Cass’ father) and Captain Massey (the TAM’s CO). Adir has internal bleeding and radiation poisoning, and Massey has a serious head injury that has left her in a coma. ~Linds

OOC: Since there are two surgeries, I’ll have Avik take whichever one is left. Sorry for taking so long to reply to this, but I was waiting to see what the plan was.

“Alright, prep the surgical suite please… We need to hurry. I don’t like the radiation damage I see on these scans, and we’ll have to get that tear in the kidney closed up directly or the internal bleeding will worsen.” The Andorian Doctor’s gravelly voice rang out as he began preparing for the surgery. The tap of his cane rang out on the deck plates as he moved quickly to change his uniform for surgical scrubs and decontaminate himself.
