There were no signs of advanced technology on the surface. Due to the radiation and the heavy mineral deposits in the surface, the sensors were unable to get any readings on below the surface. The computer was unable to get a lock on the human on the surface, the targeting sensors were unable to fully lock on to them. The ships sensor could only place him with in a 3 km area of the surface, unable to get a more precise location due to the radiation.

Avik had provided logical options to the ideas presented, but the CO had the final say. The probe provided little to no information because of the radiation. This caused her some concern. If the radiation was so thick, it might’ve made the atmosphere inhabitable.

“We need to ensure the radiation type is safe or equip our team with the correct gear,. It might be a good idea to establish a safe spot to retreat to and port, rather than risk the radiation interference. Only if things become hostile,” she commented.

It was a subtle hint she was going along with the away team.

Avik suspected it was non-ionized radiation. It wasn’t lethal to human, but it still interfered with scans and other devices. Still, she wasn’t willing to risk them walking into a planetary hot spot that could cook them alive. She pushed the note of skeleton remains out of her mind while she read the radiation data.

“I can provide you with the anti-radiation medications, and monitor you onsite,” Zeke said. “I also wasn’t keen on kidnapping somebody who might be down there for legitimate research purposes.”

Dvorak turned to Avik. “Take a shuttle, Doctor Drake, and anyone else you might need. Determine what that man and those dead people are doing there. Maintain communication with the ship at all times. Do not make contact with the native civilization.”

“That is a valid option. I will rather be cautious than sorry,” Avik stated, not seeing any readings from the scans.

She wasted enough time waiting. Her attention turned to Dvorak after he finished and nodded her understanding.

“Abrams,” Avik stated then added.

Cassidy nodded and relinquished her station.

“In case we enter into trouble down there, it would be ideal to have someone with her set of skills.”

She paused long enough to address the other two, “You have time to get what and who you feel you need to bring along. When you’re finished, meet me in the main shuttle bay.”

“Yes, Commander,” Abrams replied wth another nod, heading out.

Avik waited long enough for any replies or comments before she exited.

Matty looked at Johann “They are going to need to keep an eye on the shuttle. The radiation may cause trouble with the sensors and they will have to accomodate for that.” She said “Once they are on the surface, I won’t be able to get a transporter lock on them if something goes south.” She said spinning back around to face forward in her chair.

“They’ll just have to deal,” Dvorak said. “Unless… can we keep the tractor beam ready in case we need to pull them out of the atmosphere for whatever reason?”
