Her happy smile changed to a suitable o of surprise and then back again. The sandy beach where they were standing was rolled over by the smallest vestiges of crashing waves, soaking her feet and making them sink a little in the pristine sand. She rotated slowly, taking in how beautiful this place was. Wind ripped gently at the tendrils of her dark hair and caused the skirt of her beach dress to billow around her legs. Then she turned her face up towards the sun, enjoying the warmth, however manufactured. For her, the magic of the holodeck was real enough. Sienna loved it.

“This is very lovely. Where is it?”

Nox, CNS

“The simplest answer to that is ‘nowhere,’” Johann said cryptically.

“This is Sandy Island, in the South Pacific Ocean on Earth. It was first discovered in the 18th century by James Cook, and several people claimed to see it in the 19th century. But then it was ‘undiscovered’ in the 21st century. Turns out it had been listed on many maps, but nobody actually verified it was there. People got very confused when satellite imagery and topographic data didn’t match. So someone actually sailed out here to find out it never really existed.”

“This is my own little program based on the idea of it actually existing. I guess I kind of have a thing for programs about places that don’t exist anymore.”

She grinned, liking the cleverness of the idea. She had never heard of this island, but admittedly, she didn’t have a great deal of Earth history memorized like this. Sienna enjoyed the idea that this place existed as a shadow in long ago history and here, in a holoprogram. “Your idea of a date place is this? I am impressed.” She said and meant it. “It’s our own place and no one elses. Unique. I like that.”

He smiled cautiously. Good thing I kept it adaptive, he thought crypticly to himself. He still had not fully internalized the knowledge that she could probably pick up on thoughts like that.

Facing him, she bit her lip and moved forward. Her hand lifted, pinched a bit of shirt at his waist and tugged him gently towards her. Her face would tilt upwards as she closed the small distance between them. Betazoids wasted little time on prolonging enjoyment and she was after all, a Betazoid. In her eyes was a challenge, a question, a desire for a touch. Her heart fluttered in nervous anticipation.

Nox, CNS

His ocular implants allowed him to see right through the the dark sunglasses he had given her to wear, and into the challenge posed by her even darker eyes. As if he even really needed them in order to see what was going on.

We haven’t even started yet, he thought, amazed by how well this date seemed to be going. It felt surreal to him more than anything else. The (relative) ease with which everything had been happening tonight made him feel, without actually being consciously aware of it, for the first time in months that he was normal, a sensation he hadn’t felt since the accident.

He leaned in closer to her, his face very close to hers, pulling her towards him with his right hand behind her back. He was totally capable of giving her what she wanted… how badly did she want it?
