As they approached the planet, they could tell that the same radiation that covered system, also prevented the Europa from getting clear readings of the surface. It was M-class, with a population of approximately 3 million humanoids in the pre-bronze age stage of development and 1 human. The majority of the population was situated in small pockets throughout the system. Any further details were unavailable due to the interference from the radiation. The planet had one moon which was devoid of life.

“Its like driving across the Golden Gate Bridge when it’s foggy.” Marsh commented as he stared into his sensor screen. “The whole scan has some questions and there could be a ship out there using the system and the planetary radiation as a cloak so I can’t guarantee our security…”

Dvorak’s face briefly scowled, though he didn’t fault Mr. Marsh for the situation.

Matty returned to the Bridge and slid into her station, thus far there had been no further damage noted by the scanning, she had two engineers continuing to monitor what she had fixed.

Zeke entered the bridge. He was wearing his blue medical robe over his regular issue uniform. “What’s going on?” he asked. “The entire ship is jumping because we went to yellow alert.”

“We’re approaching an inhabited system, Doctor,” the Captain summarized. “Sensors are being blocked by radiation. Seems like a natural, but would also be a convenient way to ambush us.”

“I scan, roughly three million humanoids, its clearly pre-industrial.. I think we are looking at a pre-bronze age civilization. Hmm....” Marsh commented… “Well hello there.” He picked up his head as he nodded to the screen where he placed a red flashing dot. “And one human…”

“What?” The Captain asked incredulously, and walked over to Marsh’s station to look at the flashing red dot. “What’s exactly one human doing there?”

Has to be a mistake, Johann thought. Unless we aren’t the first starship to be out this far in this direction after all…

“I have been known to make mistakes, but I would have to have be drinking Romulan Ale to mis-read this data.” He stepped away from his console giving the Captain free reign to look at the scans himself. “We can wait til he/she’s alone and beam him back… if the transporter will work with this .. radi… ation…”

Would the transporter work? That’s a question he had no idea as to the answer to, and he wasn’t able to tell from looking at Marsh’s scans. But the Chief Engineer ought to be able to know or find out.

The whole situation screamed at her, with alarms ringing in her head. Cassidy understood that they were waltzing into a situation that had all kinds of unknown danger and she had to take a moment to breathe and make sure she was focused on the situation. “We could always try and send a probe to see if we can get clearer readings from the surface,=/\= Abrams suggested.

“As long as they don’t see the probe,” Zeke said. “They’re still a pre-warp society, am I right?”

“They are barely at metal tools. We’d have to drop the probe on them for them to see it. On the other hand if we let the sun bounce off of it they might think is a sign from the ‘gods’ so lets not do that.
