[snip]Initial scans showed that it wasn’t the cold, more like the flu, but the medical tricorder couldn’t get a more precise reading. It was having a hard time reading the virus. Crewmen Smith was having a bad reaction to this virus, his immune system was in overdrive, more so then with a normal virus.

Bump
Zeke had a concerned look on his face as he read the readings from his medical recorder. “Okay, Crewman Taylor,” he finally announced. “Here’s what we’re going to do. I’m going to order the computer to beam all three of us to the Sickbay on deck four. Smith here will get beamed directly into a biobed.”
“Then, I’m going to put a quaranteen level containment field around this room. And Sickbay. Then, we go from there.”
He then gave the directions to the computer.
CMO
The transport was successful, Crewman Smith was in the biobed with Zeke and Taylor just out side the containment area.
-GMT
“Stupid computer!” Zeke snapped as he got out of the biobed. “Computer. Lower the containment field in the Sickbay.” Which he waited for the computer to comply.”
The computer lowered the containment field as requested.
“Okay, Taylor,” he said. “Get in here. Take a seat on this other biobed.”
“Yes sir.” Taylor said and took the seat.
“Now, Computer,” he ordered. “Put that containment field back up. All three of us need to be held here. Under quarantine conditions.”
CMOOCC: My bad, misread it.
IC: The quarantine field was raised. As it was raised, Smith started to asphyxiate, gasping for air, while beads of sweat started to pour down his face.

Once the patient was set up in his biobed, the biofunction monitor readout would continuously display and update his vital signs, such as pulse, respiration, temperature, and brain activity.
Zeke also got the respirator device ready for use. “Crewman Taylor,” he said. “I don’t suppose that I’d be lucky enough, that you have any medical nurse training, do you?”
CMO
“I’ve had some basic first aid during boot camp. But no nurse training.” Taylor replied meekly.
“As in, since I’ve taken the precautionary measure of establishing a quarantine field around the Sickbay, in the process, I’ve apparently also managed to lock out the rest of the medical staff. Not that I actually require any help.”
CMO
“I’ll try and help if I can.” He offered softly. He was clearly nervous, but seemed to be pulling himself together to help.
-GMT
“Well, let’s get this respirator on him for easing his breathing,” Zeke said. “And intravenous fluids for dehydration and body temperature ad well. I need the biobed to give me a proper reading to diagnose his specific virus so that I can treat it.”
CMO
Taylor helped the CMO get the respirator on. He watched as the intravenous fluids were attached to his friend and roommate. Initial scans of Smith’s systems showed a virus was attacking his system. These initial scans showed that the virus was not known to the computer. However, it seemed to be attacking the body in a similar fashion as an aggressive flu virus would.

Zeke thought a moment. Then he said, “Okay. It’s high time that I called in a ringer.” With that, he tapped his combadge.
=^=This is Lt. Drake calling for Commander Avik. I have a sick crewman here in the Sickbay that I need help with. There is a containment forcefield around the Sickbay. =^=
CMO
OOC: Please don’t forget to snip. Thank you.
-Janice B.IC: Avik had been situated on the bridge at the time. She instructed the next highest officer to take her place as she moved down the corridor and headed to the sickbay. After exiting the turbo lift, she entered the room. Her eyes turned to Zeke for details while she spoke.
“Would you fill me in on the situation and what I can help with?”
–XO, Avik, Lt. Cmdr
“Crewman Smith seems to have an advanced flu virus of unknown origins” Zeke explained. “The computer can’t identify it. I have him on a respirstor and intravenous for now.”
“Taylor here is his roommate who found him. I brought him to Sickbay as a precaution. And have quarantine force fields around both Sickbay and their quarters.”
“I’m treating this as a bad case of the normal flu for now. I haven’t started him on any medication yet as I just got him in here.”
CMO
Avik listened intently to the CMO. Her head nodded, indicating she received the information, then turned her attention to the patient. Her eyes noted the roommate lingering nearby, the body racked with nervousness and helplessness. They both looked miserable causing a pang of sympathy to flutter into the surface of her heart. Shrugging it off, she turned back to the chief medical officer.
“Have you taken a blood sample to examine before you administered any medication?” She wondered what he had done up until her arrival.
–XO, Avik, Lt. Cmdr
“No, I just got him in here,” Zeke explained. “Then I set him up in the biobed to get some better scans then my medical tricorder can do. Crewman Taylor is his room mate. i haven’t scanned him yet. He shows no obvious signs of the alien flu. But I have him here, in quarantine. Just in case.”
CMO
Avik said little at first. She moved toward the biobed. With the proper protections in place to avoid contaminations, she pressed buttons on the console and waited for the results. She had started off with a basic scan to indicate the source of the issue and other abnormalities. Once they were found, she then ran them through the sickbay database for any similarities to other diseases or illnesses. The best way to improve the officer’s health was to figure out what was harming him.
“Hopefully it’s something easily treatable,” she commented with a hint of gentleness in her voice.
–XO, Avik, Lt. Cmdr
“Of course, Commander,” Zeke mused. “I used the transporter to beam us here. I can run a check on the biofilter to see why it didn’t screen out the virus. If it comes down to it, we can still treat the disease like an aggressive flu.”
CMO
As the CMO was talking, Crewmen Smith’s blood pressure started to drop and his heart rate increased. Beads of sweat ran down his face and he started to fidget.
“Ah Doc?” Taylor stated with concern.
-GMT
“Even if it is a wonky, alien flu of unknown origin, I can still treat is as a known virus,” Zeke explained. “They have certain common identifying markers and symptoms. And worse comes to worse, I can stick him in stasis. But I can still fix this before it comes to that.”
