Marsh half smiled, He continued in a slightly embarrassed voice, “It is just something I grew up with. I know most grew up with less. However shouldn’t keep us from enjoying it whenever we happen to get leave.” Which had been a long time for him.
Horseback riding, pools, gardens? Sienna was there. She smiled wide and felt so happy for the first time in a long time. The idea of having friends to take vacation with, to go some place personal for them, was appealing. It had been so long since she had had real friends, afraid to connect to anyone here for when she inevitably returned home. Now that she accepted at least the significantly low chances of that happening, she was allowing herself to connect with others. She rotated her wedding band and felt a pang of guilt for accepting this new reality as her own. Johann would understand.
“J’accepte votre aimable invitation. Quand pouvons-nous partir?” She grinned and then sipped her drink. “It all sounds wonderful. I miss horseback riding. I suppose I could do it on the holodeck though.”
Nox, CNS
Marsh chuckled, “Oh you speak French. That will make father happy.” He looked about, “I don’t know when is the next time you get leave. I know I’m due. Pretty sure Cassidy is too, but I don’t know how much the like department heads disappearing to Earth for a couple of weeks.”
“I… like horses, but never been riding before. I might need lessons on the holodeck myself,” Cass said with a grin. It wouldn’t be the first time Steven had given her lessons before. It was sort of their thing, come to think of it. Eyeing Nox though, Cass felt warmth for the woman. It hadn’t been an easy transition for her, that Cass knew but she had been very helpful when Abrams had had that incident with her junior officer. The woman had real skills and was nice to boot. A part of her wondered why they all hadn’t hung out here before.
Abrams, COS
“Well the horses are not quite as docile as they are on the holodeck. In fact horses are very intuitive, if you don’t feel confident they can feel it and then they won’t do a darn thing you say. Its part of the reason why they are great for therapy. Such a large powerful creature completely in tune with their riders.”
Marsh
Sienna grinned, surprised by Marsh’s knowledge of using animals for therapies. “You are correct! They really are quite good for therapy. It has been a long time since I have used them, but it is nice to remember. Dogs are good too. Cats for more loner people. Caring for another creature puts certain things in perspective, even if the mind doesn’t connect right away consciously. The unconscious mind does a lot of hand holding.”
She looked at Cassidy with a grin. “Just bring treats and they will love you.”
Nox, CNS
Cassidy returned the grin. “Treats, got it. You know, I never had pets. Even when we were living on Vega. But I spent a good chunk of my childhood and adolescence on starships and my parents weren’t really pet people. I kind of like the idea of them though.”
Abrams, COS
“Yes, horses love carrots and the sort. Just be careful with your fingers and thumbs. Their vision is terrible. If you give them snacks they will think any part of your body that is the same shape and size of the carrot is a carrot. So fingers are always on the menu.” Marsh chuckled.
Marsh
“Apples are good options if you are too scared to do carrots.” She tapped Steven a bit. “Really, try not to scare your girlfriend before she approaches the animal.”
Nox, CNS
“I like her to have her fingers too. She’s far less useful to me without a functional hand.”
Cassidy smirked. “I think I can handle it.” Still she was amused and sipped more on her mai tai before folding her arms on the table and gazing at Steven. “We should do this, plan this trip I mean.” She really liked the idea and it would fun to be away together, and she was even happy with Nox coming too. “Though I’ll have to check with Vora if they’ve set a date for the wedding or not.” She grinned. “I’m on Maid of Honour duty, though that was a funny conversation. Tenraith weddings, or at least the ones she knew about were rather different,” she said with a laugh.
Abrams, COS
“I have more vacation than I know what to do with and if you too can handle the gossip connected with two girls going with me to my estate in France for a couple of weeks I certainly can handle it.” Steven smiled at Cassidy, they never discussed if there was an issue with him taking women to France. “You could also bring a plus one, or twenty if you’d like. There is a lot of space.”
He would have to alert the staff if there are more than a half a dozen unexpected guests.
Marsh CSO
“You know, I think the ship is due for a bit of updating right? Our new Chief Engineer might really enjoy having control over that while most of the ship gets some time off.” She had talked with the captain about moral boosting. There is some social needs for the crew too. “I do not know who else might be interested but It might be a really fun to make a group outing and it might be less likely that your father will concentrate on you being that perfect heir right?” Sienna grinned and sipped her drink.
Nox, CNS
Though Cass maintained a pleasant expression, something inside her sunk. After all this time, all these years, what were they? Something? Nothing? Who exactly would she bring? She had been with Steven for ages. Something about his idle comment made a bitter taste rise up her throat. Even being rather social as she could be, Cass didn’t have a lot of friends aside from Vora and Clint (when he wasn’t being an idiot), thought they might enjoy the trip. Vora though might have other plans however. All in all, Cassidy wasn’t sure what to think and so just sipped on her mai tai.
