Sllyrasa closed his eyes in contemplation. “So some sort of power distribution path would need to be established from the receiving end to whatever power capacitance capability is inside of your ship.” He opened his eyes and looked at Marsh. Whether Marsh would feel the heavy psychic presence while being looked at was another matter. “We noticed that your ship has the capability of projecting an energy field around itself utilizing a multitude of emitters along the hull. What if a broad spectrum energy pulse was directed at these from both sides of the ship?”

GM Dread

OOC: Marsh is non-telepathic. He’s bright so he could figure out if they kept picking up on what he was thinking, but he couldn’t sense it.

Marsh squinted they knew a bunch. He was curious about how much… He glanced at the XO but responded. “That wouldn’t be the best method. The technique that is more commonly used is aiming the power at the main dish. Its at the front of the ship and shaped slightly like a cup. It a projection device, so someone has to reverse the power flow…”

Marsh

Sienna was glad that technical talk was not only bridging the gap caused by perceived rudeness, but also getting them somewhere. Having very little knowledge about engineering other than the basics she learned in the Academy, Sienna wasn’t much help to this discussion so she focused instead on trying to read the people they were coming to know. She didn’t use her telepathy to invade their mind, but she watched their body language and facial expressions. She expanded her own senses in a general sense, wanting to pick up what she could.

Nox, CNS

Avik held eye contact for a few moments longer than normal. It was a subtle confirmation that she also acknowledged the oddness, but they couldn’t discuss it now. Calmly she listened to the discussion between the pair, hoping a solution might develop since she couldn’t add much to it.

There was an obvious shift in the tension, and while that didn’t make Cassidy stand down from her alert, she allowed her mind to drift to their surroundings again, making sure that nothing untoward snuck up on them. Was she a bit paranoid at the moment? Probably, but it felt justified given the predicament they were in.

Abrams, COS

bump for GM

OOC: Thanks for the bump. I got stuck in a rabbit hole or something it seems.

Sllryasa cocked his head slightly to the side. “Which brings us back to the problem of communication. The energy could be provided but someone on the ship still needs to do something. No one is responding to the various forms of communication we, or you, are currently capable of. So how do we go about getting someone’s attention and conveying a simple message? Would something as simple as knocking on the hull strongly work?”

GM Dread

Sienna turned at Sllryasa’s suggestion and smiled. “I think that could work. Morse code is taught to us in the academy. Surely someone on the ship currently would know it enough to translate. I suppose the hard part would be making sure someone is present wherever we are knocking. However, I assume that people will be in engineering trying to figure out how to fix the problem. Marsh?”

Nox, CNS

Avik waited for his input before she voiced any support for the idea.

In her own thoughts, she saw the value of trying this. A conscious crew would reply by adjusting the equipment, but an unconscious one couldn’t. It at least gave them an idea of what to expect if they decided to board the ship. However, time was precious and they would be wasting a critical amount waiting to board.

–XO, Avik, Lt. Cmdr

OOC: Small bump to keep this on the board.
-Janice B.

OOC: Luke, the other players are expecting you to actually write something instead of bumping the thread with no additional content. If your character could answer the direct question posed to him by Nox, that would be great.

Joe

OOC: I don’t know how I missed the question. Sorry

“There’s a couple of problems with that, not that any of them are insurmountable. Hulls are pretty sturdy, banging is going to have a limited effect, but certainly a big enough blow… particularly around the hatches, would work. Lights through the window would be easier, have longer range, and be simpler to notice. Also we haven’t confirmed that we have a means of travel to a position close enough to do either.”

“What’s confusing me, is that even with the high resolution telescope… I can’t see anyone in the windows. Considering the power loss, I would assume people would be working near the windows for background light off the planet along with hand beacons.”

Marsh

OOC: That’s all right, I miss things some times too. Also, thank you for the reply!

Avik could relate to the concerns now that Marsh had aired them. She did find it strange that there was no signs of life in the windows. Granted, she didn’t get a chance to observe the ship like Marsh had.

“These are good points. Unfortunately, we can only theorize so much. We’re going to need to try something and see what happens. I think it is the only way we might get some understanding of what is possible and what isn’t.”

She turned her eyes to Sllryasa, ” It sounds like you have way or idea on how to ‘knock’ on the hull.”

Avik hoped by learning what this method was, it might open the door for other solutions or ideas.
