In contrast to Avik, Dvorak promptly stepped off the platform as soon as the process was complete. He took a few steps forward before finally making note of Lieutennant Kelly.

“Are you from the Admiral’s staff?” he asked directly.

The women who greeted them appeared to be in her mid thirties, black hair and eyes and she wore her yellow operations uniform smartly.

“Not directly sir. I was your flight controller. My Name is Lt. Kelly, I am the lead in the flight controller department. As I was in contact with you when the incident happend, Admiral Mcginnis asked me to escort you to his office and provide any information I can prior to your meeting.” She had a certain bounce to her when she spoke, as if she was habitually happy and/or high at the same time. He voice seemed to be on the high side of the normal human range and she had what looked like a permanent smile to her face.

“Please, it’s an honor to meet you both, follow me please. ”

Dvorak followed behind the Lieutenant, who made him appear unusually dour compared to her appearance. Not that he was dour, just focused on the business at hand.

Avik observed the woman. It was interesting to be able to place a name to a face now, recalling Lt. Kelly’s energy over the intercom. The Vulcan then moved to follow behind the CO and the Lieutenant as they walked.

“What do you know about these hacking attempts?” he asked Lieutennant Kelly as he kept following her down the corridor.

“Very little honestly. They started about two weeks ago and, so far they have been the same. Someone attempts to hack into our computer system, but does so to access a file that isn’t classified or protected. The breech itself lasts only a few minutes then disappears, leaving no trace. As far as I know, until today, they have all been directed at the Starbase’s computer systems. Our patrol craft have not been targeted.” She explained in an almost gitty sort of way.

“You’ve not been able to trace the origin point?” Avik asked, finding it a bit odd.

She didn’t recall any reports over suspicious activity on the base. Inwardly, she frowned at the sloppiness of the Admiral, but held her opinion to herself. It wasn’t her place to judge him over his decisions.

OCC: Assuming no questions, if so post them above.

IC: They approached the Admiral’s office and walked in. Inside was a waiting area with a Androrian LT sitting at a desk on the left side of the room. On the right side was a few chairs and a view port that looked out into the surrounding space. Off in the distance the Europa was visible.

The secretary glanced up when the door opened.

“Ah LT. Kelly, Yes, Admiral Mcginnis is waiting for you, you may enter.” She said before Lt Kelly could say anything. “Good Afternoon Captain.” She greeted Captain Dvorak when he entered the room. She motioned to a door that was off to her left near the waiting area chairs.

Dvorak acknowledged the receptionist silently as he kept moving fluidly towards the Admiral’s office doors.

Lt. Kelly smiled warmly then approached the door. She pressed the chime. “Enter” came the response. Lt. Kelly motioned for the Captain and XO to enter his office.

The office in which Rear Admiral Jason Mcginnis was decorated rather lavishly. He had art work from various planets hanging on the walls of his office. Along the back wall, behind his desk were several plaques and commendations, including a framed copy of his promotion to Rear Admiral. He stood near a window in his office, which, like the one in the waiting area overlooked the surrounding space. Two blue green vines framed the window on either side. His office was lit dimmer then most other offices, but wasn’t hard to see in. Several Padds lay scattered on his desk a small works station was open on the right hand side.

Discreetly, Johann used the magnification feature of his right occular implant to try to read the stardate off of McGinnis’ promotion to Rear Admiral. He knew very little about the man, and was curious as to how long he had been commanding.

The stardate shows that he was promoted 2 months and 16 days ago.

He turned to greet the newcomers with an outstretched hand. “Captain Dvorak, Commander Avik, Admiral McGinnis.”

“Nice to meet you Admiral,” Dvorak said, taking the Admiral hand and shaking it firmly. “What can Europa do for you?”

Avik nodded as the Admiral shook hands with Dvorak.

“Thank you Lt.” he said to Lt Kelly. She nodded and left the room. As soon as the doors closed to turned his attention to the Dvorak and Avik.

“Officially, You have been temporarily assigned to me for a routine deep space exploration assignment. There is a lot of uncharted space out there and we need someone to go out and explore it for us.” He explained, moving back towards his desk.

Avik narrowed her eyes for a moment. She sensed there was something more to it than what meets the eye causing her to glance at the CO. The XO hoped the man had caught the same thing she had and would inquire about it. She felt there might’ve been an unofficial reason for their assignment.
