Justin paced nervously back and forwards as the shuttlecraft came in to land. He loved meeting new people but he was worried about making a good impression. Ki’Jalla gently put a hand on his shoulder to stop his pacing. “Ta’ka, at the waterfall of Bal’nar…” he said with a smile. Justin nodded and took a deep breath. As Ki’Jalla approached the shuttle, Aaliyah nudged Justin playfully on the shoulder. “Relax for goodness sake, we’re supposed to be portraying the calm, serene atmosphere of Evagen and you look like a gazelle on steroids!” she giggled as they went to join their leader.

As the team stepped out onto the deck, Ki’Jalla threw his arms open to welcome them. “Alkar! At the Great Temple! His legs weak, his mouth dry…”

Justin quickly scuttled to his side to translate. “Ki’Jalla welcomes you all to Evagen, you must be tired from your trip, please, let us offer you a drink,” he smiled as a host of waiters appeared holding an impressive array of drinks.

“Don’t mind if I do.” Aaron said, accepting one of the offered drinks. He needed to keep a mostly-straight head, but hey, a XO can indulge once in a while. He nodded to the others that it was alright to drink.

Aaron Michaels, XO

At the presentation of drinks, Falz happily picked one up. He knew he probably shouldn’t, but what was the harm? It was one drink and they were here to have a good time. With a crooked smile on his face he happily took a big gulp of the liquid before remembering where he was. “Thank you,” he grinned, “That should quench my thirst for a while,”

Michael took a drink. He imagined so long as he stayed sober, all would be well. And there was no mention of these drinks being alcoholic to begin with. Though they had played poker with their shuttle pilot, so surprises were few and far between.

Justin watched the group nervously as he bit his lip. Aaliyah chuckled as she saw his apprehension and wandered over to join him, plucking a glass from the tray. “Lost for words?” she asked with a smirk. “That’s not like you…” she added as she took a sip and passed a drink to her young friend. “Come on, lets go make some friends,” she added, dragging him over to the group of newcomers.

“Welcome to Evagen,” she said as she approached. “My name is Aaliyah and this is Justin, we are here to make sure your stay is a pleasant one. We’d be glad to give you a tour before the banquet, we have many leisure facilities on offer…I’d be happy to show you personally…” she added as she gave a sultry smile and a wink to the gentlemen of the group.

Justin stuck his hand out awkwardly to shake. “Um, what do you like to do for fun?” he asked curiously. “Whatever you like, I’m sure we have it here…” he added.

Mother Hen

Aaron immediately had a red flag go up at Aaliyah’s words, and bent down to sit his half-full glass on the ground. “I, personally, want to see all of the facilities here before we answer your questions.” Years in Starfleet had made him a skeptic, and he wasn’t about to throw half the senior staff into a position that trapped them here.

He waved for Cross to come up next to him.

OOC: Sorry, Cross is still on the ship, but fear not, trusty Ensign Bob is here ;)

Seeing the XO wave, Bob scurried over eagerly as he downed the last bit of his drink with alarming speed.

“I want you to scan my drink as covertly as possible. Check for anything that gives you red flags, then have Lieutenant Grey scan for exact compounds.” Aaron said in a low voice.

Aaron Michaels, XO

Bob nodded enthusiastically and rather unsubtly replied, “Aye sir!” loud enough for everyone in the room to hear as a few turned around in surprise. Bob dutifully scanned the drinks which didn’t show any foreign substances or anything to be alarmed at, they were merely a delicious array of cocktails with varying amounts of alcohol in. He passed a couple across to the CSO to double check.

James took a drink with glee, he didn’t share the commander’s skepticism despite his many years of service “You know Commander there is a thing as being too Paranoid” He said not stopping his smile whilst tapping his tricorder casually. He seemed to have heard Micheals comment “Sometimes a drenk is juss a drenk”

CSO

“That proves it.” Aaron said, swaying slightly. He had been a drunk in his younger days, so alcohol–and most things put in it–didn’t affect him quite as quickly.

Aaron Michaels, XO

Bob hung round eagerly as he took another drink. “Is there anything else I can do sir?” he asked hopefully. It wasn’t very often that he got to go on away missions so he was keen to prove himself.

As the away team began to loosen up a bit, the waiters began scurrying around with plates of delicate canapes. An exotic piece of music started playing through the sound system as a group of scantily clad gorgeous women began to dance around the group, inviting them to join in which Bob excitedly did, showing off his tragically unfashionable dance moves.

Mother Hen

Falz watched the XO fuss about something to do with the drinks, by the way a couple of them were being scanned, but he was only half paying attention. He was more interested in watching the people around them moving as he downed the other half of his drink, and covertly nabbed another off a tray deciding that it would take more than one of them to get him drunk.

Lt. (j.g.) Hegush
COO

After scanning the drinks at the XO’s request and showing the results James placed his tricorder back in his ‘party pack’ and grabbed one of the drinks, downing it in one gulp “I think we’re a little old to be werrying about devils in the shade, ser, let the yungins have their fun”

CSO

As James downed his drink, one of the dancing girls slinked over and gently ran her fingers through his hair. “Some girls like an older man…” she whispered in his ear and she stroked his arm. Before she got too much further, Ki’Jalla shuffled onto the platform and clapped his hands, followed quickly by Justin.

With his arms outstretched, the Tamarian proudly announced. “Tokar, his kingdom prepared. Serai at the Festival of Arkath!” Justin let out a little squeak as he smiled. “Ki’Jalla is pleased to announce the feast is ready, please follow Aaliyah through to the banquet hall, your friends will be joining us soon!” he translated, the excitement clear in his voice.

Aaliyah led the party to a beautifully ornate set of doors, making no attempt to hide that she was checking out the men as they passed her. As Aaron approached, she rather unsubtly grazed his thigh with her hand. “Oh, excuse me Lt Commander, I think my hand must have slipped there…” she said with a wink as she slipped a room key into his hand.

Mother Hen

Aaron smirked a little, winking and pocketing the key. “That’s totally alright.” His worries abated about there being something in the drink, Aaron decided there couldn’t be much harm in loosening up a little.

Aaron Michaels, XO

James simply smiled at the young woman yet said nothing. When he noticed the small interaction between the XO and the woman he chuckled and winked at the man, everyhting seemed to be going well.

CSO

As they entered the banquet hall, there was a magnificent feast set out in front of them of delicacies from around the galaxy. There was a sense of luxury and extravagance about the room with grand chandeliers and plush velvet furniture. The waiting staff ushered the team to their table and began to fill their glasses with wine.

Mother Hen

James whistled at the sight of the grand hall “Well this sure is Pedro” He exclaimed looking around as he was led to the table “You know maybe I did leave Vulcan at the right time, Four years of hot air and hidden ego’s but the wait was well worth it”

CSO

As the team began filling their plates, Ki’Jalla proudly took centre stage with a smile. “Jadan & T’Kal…at the festival of Lotan!” he announced as Aaliyah, having changed into a stunning purple dress, strutted onto the stage and took position in front of a microphone as a small band assembled behind her, ready for a performance. As the band burst into action, the young Orion began to sing with a beautiful sultry voice.

‘I’m in a little bit of trouble, and I’m in real deep. From the beginning…’ she began. Just as she was getting into the swing, the band promptly stopped as the lights went out and the computer began chiming an alarm. =/\= Power failure in grid 472, emergency shutdown activated. =/\= as the loud announcement rang out through the room, emergency bulkheads slid firmly shut on all exits. Aaliyah gave a panicked look to Justin who bit his lip nervously and shrugged his shoulders as he joined her on the stage.

“Apologies ladies and gentleman, we seem to have had a slight technical fault…!” he hollered over the sound of the computer. A couple of baffled looking engineers shuffled over to the console and began to examine it, muttering to each other as they shook their heads in confusion. As they began prodding things, Justin made his way over to Michaels. “Um…I think our boys could use some help sir?” he asked hopefully as the hapless engineers scratched their heads.

Mother Hen

Michael stood up. “Um, I’m the ship’s Chief Engineer. If I can help at all…” he turned to the engineers. “Do you have tricorders, scanners, anything?”

-Lt(j.g.) Michael Jameson

The two engineers looked at each other blankly for a moment and muttered something quietly to each other before turning back to Jameson and sheepishly shaking their heads. “It’s our night off sir…we didn’t think we’d need any equipment…” one of them replied.

James calmly took a sip from his drink “Well I guess somebody didn’t like her singing” He joked “I have some X-ray specs in my bag Leftenant if you need ‘em” He called out with a big grin on his face.

CSO

“Jameson, you and I have Engineering experience, let’s see what we can un-break, shall we?” Aaron said to Michael, as he stood up as well.

Aaron Michaels, XO

After a few moments, the emergency generators kicked in and gave the room at least a dull light to work from. Justin paced around the back of the stage in a flap as Aaliyah sighed and picked up a drink, somewhat disgruntled at the rude interruption.

Mother Hen

Michael nodded at the XO and stepped over to the console that was previously being examined. “Power failure in grid 472. Where exactly is the actual fault?” he tapped at the console, hoping emergency power had restored computer function. Shore leave…
