USS Constellation

All The Things Will Grow

Helena sighed softly a knowing smile on her face. Her stunningly green eyes sparkling knowingly at the young couple. Young love was so lovely to watch. Helena made her way across the promenade of the star base. Her long golden hair trailed all the way to her feet as she walked. Perhaps it was so stunningly gold because of her fair slightly tanned skin, or maybe it was something else. Helena simply looked like she was always in the sun shine. She gave the impression that she simply belonged outside in the sunshine in wilds or the fields. Helena was exceptionally tall and lithe and moved through the base with grace.

Helena was always bubbly and personable and she stopped to speak to several people, all ones she didn’t know, but some how she seemed to have always known them and know what bothered them most. She always seemed to gather the children around her and would tell the most outrageous stories as they walked along. The residents of the station were glad when she was ready to ship out. Helena was blamed for the outrageous uncontrolled growth of all the plants on the station. Surely someone mixed the plant food wrong…right? And 9 months later there were no less than 10 births on the station. And who knew how many else where from visitors to the station.

Helena boarded her transport shuttle, well really it was more of a runabout, it was another two days to meet the Constellation from Black Rock. The trip seemed lovely, Helena loved to look at the stars, but she loved being on stable ground instead. She was disappointed to not be going to another colony, but she understood that the Constellation was a mythology class ship and was like being on a colony. She loved mythology and the stars and so it seemed serendipitous that she was stationed on a ship called the Constellation. Things were going well until....the sensors went haywire and started reporting all manner of odd readings. Moisture condensation, wind gusts up to 120 kph, circuitous cloud motion, sudden pressure drops, and massive precipitation. Flood warnings and high wind alerts were screaming for the control panel…

“We’re going to have to go around, it will add at least a day to our flight,” the pilot said as he commed the co pilot to come to the small bridge. Helena looked at the readings showing on all the computer panels.

“No’ possible, just fly through it, nothin’ is there.” Helena piped up as she walked into the main cabin, and then the shuttle rocked dangerously and spun. Helena gasped loudly and then a swan’s trumpet was heard.

The Pilot looked back, blinked, blinked again and looked at the co-pilot. “Did you see that?” The co-pilot grunted, “See what?”

“The swan. There was a swan right there where the doctor is standing.”

“Tavarn you’re sea sick, go to the medbay and let the EMH check you out.” The Co-pilot shook her head, “This is going to be hard enough to fly though without you being so sick you’re seeing things.”

Helena came and sat down next to the co-pilot, and even with the strange storm brewing and seething around them, their path straight ahead seemed to clear. “Ah see, we’re fine my young man. Beautiful storm though, we’ll get to see it in all it’s glory while we fly by. Let’s go, no time to waste.” Helena pulled a golden delicious apple out of her pocket and began to eat it as the pilot maneuvered through the storm raging around the runabout but never touching the shuttle.

Several hours later Helena got her first look at the Constellation. “Oh well let me go check on your friend. I hope he’s alright.” She left the small bridge and found her way to the med bay where the EMH looked rather put out. “Talking about swans on board and hurricanes in space. I sedated him. He’ll be fine after a good sleep.” Helena nodded and returned to the main cabin, “Your friend will be sleeping for awhile. The EMH gave him a sedative, but poor lad, should be fine when he wakes.”

The doctor was sweet and very pretty, but there was just something about her that made the pilot wary. =^=Shuttle Villi to USS Constellation. Requesting permission to dock.=^=
