It was shortly after 15:00 a couple of days after the Viking. The door to Akaba’s Quarter rang. Before the science officer would have chance to answer, the chime would ring again, and again.

Whoever was at the door was certainly impatient…

-Unexpected Visitor

Reira was on his bed, sipping his hot chocolate when the his door rang. Okay, who wanted to see him, why not just call him on his commbadge? Grabbing the phaser he kept under his pillow, partially because he was a little more wary these days and mainly because he felt safer knowing he had a weapon when he slept at night, he got up when the chime rang twice more. Whoever it was, they were impatient as he hid his phaser behind his back.

He reached the button and answered the door.

Ensign Reira Akaba (Science)

At the door was the ships former CMO wearing a black Section 31 uniform. He held a finger up against his lips to indicate for Akaba to be quiet before he entered.

Upon entering he took out a cylindrical device from a satchell and turned it on. As a blue band around it began to glow he placed it on the coffee table before starting to scan the room all over with a tricorder on silent mode. Satisfied with his scan results closed the tricorder.

“Reira,” he said simply in he Welsh accent. He was not sure how Reira would feel or react to him being Section 31…

-John

The sight before him made Reira freeze, John was back but… He noticed the uniform instantly and he held his breath. This had been one of his nightmares, that John would join them and experiment on him. He sincerely doubted the last part and chalked it up to his brain acting up with his Borg implants but seeing him like this sent a chill down his spine. He still had feelings for John, feelings he couldn’t suppress. Reira locked the doors with a Borg Algorithim, he didn’t want John to leave yet. That and he still had memories from Harry walking in on them… in flagrante. Not an experience he cared to repeat.

“John…” The ex-Drone replied, the slight Japanese accent to his speech. “It’s good to see you.” He nods. Regardless of his lover’s affiliations, the fact that John was alive counted for something. “I’m not going to beat around the bush here… Why are you in a Section 31 Uniform? You know what they did to me, I told you everything. You’re the only one to whom I told everything Leo did to me. Did James force you to do this? I know his Reman Imps have something to do with Section 31 as does Nevin.” He asked, hesitant as he removed his shirt, feeling warmer than normal, plus John had seen far more than just his torso, walking over he planted a gentle kiss on the man’s cheek.

“I was put in a position whereby if I wanted to remain in Starfleet I had to join the section,” John said as he embraced Reira in a hug. “The section believes my uncle has gone rogue and believe because of the family connection I am best suited to track him down and I will need your help with that, but there is another reason I am here in person.”

“I still care about you… You must know how hard it is for me to admit this, right? To even feel it, considering my cortical node could harm me if I didn’t control it’s functions to stop it considering my emotional responses to you as me being a defective Borg Drone.”

Ensign Reira Akaba (Science)

“I love you too,” John said pausing to let that sink in, “Reira, I must warn you, Your father is somewhere aboard the Viking. Section 31 records show he downloaded some files using a terminal aboard this ship. This only got spotted by me because the files relate to my Uncle.”

-John McHarrie

“Duplicitous and sneaky of them as ever…” Reira sighed, suspecting something like that and feeling reassured, he doubted John would join the organization of his own volition unless there was no other choice. Did Akorem have anything to do with it, he arrived at about the same time John left and with this new information about him it only confirmed his suspicions about the Bajoran. He hugged back gently, it felt good to be in his arms again.

“I’ll assist you in finding your uncle… I’ve got my own set of questions for him about those damn Reman Imps. They feel like a diversion and if Leo accessed data on them and him then this just confirms they’re linked. He’s lost the Lanius, I made sure of that but I imagine there’s another ship out there, probably cloaked and he’s learnt to be more stealthy. Using our computer terminals to try and get Section 31 to investigate us, killing two birds with one stone.” Reira stated, thinking it through. He was lying about Leo being here but if John knew Leo definitely would. So it was just a matter of time before he showed up, the recurring nightmare.

“I love you too. I’ve missed you and if Leo and James are up to something then being separated is dangerous considering what they’re like. You can stay in my quarters.” The ex-Drone asked.

“I cannot without putting you in a greater danger than you already are,” John said, “Ny associate and I are working on getting my uncle to slip up and reveal himself. As such a story has been spun to get back to him which will need to be delivered by people who genuinely believe it. When you are asked if you have seen or heard from me, you have not heard anything since I departed the USS Swift.”

“Akorem is not on Section 31’s payroll, but he and my uncle were… together. He will not trust us. Especially after what I did at the Academy. I did not know at the time but Section 31 caused the case against me to collapse despite the evidence. The commander was going to testify as an expert witness for the prosecution.”

“My associate and I need someone close to Nevin. Someone he can trust with his son’s life,” John said, “We do not want anything to happen to the boy, but if my Uncle, your Dad, or anyone in the Section wants to influence Nevin, that’s how they’ve done it before.”

-John

“Considering your Uncle and my Father, danger tends to be relative. I… I think I can get close to his kid. Not Nevin himself, I don’t trust him but if you have somewhere to have Dakin Antos transported, I can make it happen…” Reira offered. It didn’t feel good to manipulate his kid to get to him but the situation was desperate, he wanted to know what the First Officer was up to and he had a feeling getting Dakin was possibly the only recourse left to him.

“Nevin will do anything to keep his son safe. Threatening the boy is how the Section ensured Nevin’s complicity before,” John said, “If you can earn enough trust he will have someone to turn to for help if they try it again thus alerting us to an unathorised section 31 presence in a discreet way. That is ALL we need your help with.”

“Okay, I understand and I can keep an eye out for Leo. If he’s cloaked his ship then there are a few ways I can scan for it.” The lilac-haired Ensign nodded. “What were yo doing on the Swift anyway, it’s a prison ship…” He inquired, curious. “And since you can’t stay here permanently, at least stay the night and have dinner with me.” He asked, looking at John.

Ensign Reira Akaba (Science)

John smiled for the first time since his arrival. “I was hitching a ride on the Swift. She was travelling in the same direction as I needed to go.

“I cannot stay the night, but can stay till around 19:00,” he said placing a hand on Reira’s chest gently, that gives us what? about 4 hours?”
