USS Viking

Pre-Sim - Initial Check-in - CSO Meeting

Posted by Ensign Pascal Reade (Science Officer) in Pre-Sim - Initial Check-in - CSO Meeting
Pascal had done his research into his new CSO, with his parents being in the field for all of his life he was taught to be ahead of the game with any form of knowledge.

He was looking forward to getting stuck into a ship that has potential, a forward-thinking attitude, and most importantly, resources that can be used in his personal mission with his mother’s disappearance.

The turbolift opened on Deck 5 and Pascal stepped out, already noticing crew members settling in around the area with all the hustle and movement you would expect from a new assignment. He had also noticed an overwhelming amount of science labs on his travels.

Pascal arrived at the door, Chief Science Officer appearing on the notice in front of him, he reached for the call button and pressed firmly.

  • Ensign Reade, Science Officer

The chime shivered through the air catching Mark’s attention. In one hand he held a padd with the latest requisition reports scrolling by on the sidebar and in the main area of the display he was catching up on a recent paper published by Doctor Miranda Sheridan. The Viking class sported a nice set of science labs as part of it’s normal mission profile. It was no different here, though they seemed a little sparse at the moment. A few counters held some pieces of equipment, but the place was a little understocked.

Taking a sip of coffee from the mug in his other hand, he sat both down to regard the door. “It’s open,” he called in a warm baritone voice. As Pascal made his way through the portal, the Lieutenant straightened his uniform. The man stood a little over 1.78 meters (5’ 10”) and weighed in at a little over eighty-one and a half kilos (or 180 lbs). He wasn’t the tallest human, being of average height and build, but his shoulders were broad and he had a decent amount of muscle on him. He stayed active and his service record attested to it. He had something of a widow’s peak with dark brown to black hair slicked back. Maybe it was a little longer than regulation but it was kept neat and passed standards otherwise. He had a mustache and goatee that helped offset the high cheekbones and thinness of his features. His eyes were a stormy gray with a piercing intelligence, almost as though he could see through the Ensign.

Recognition immediately lit up Markus’ expression. “Good morning, Ensign Reade,” he said extending his hand in greeting, not sure if he’d take it. Touch greetings weren’t really so common in Starfleet these days, but Mark hailed from Deneba. There was still a sort of frontier atmosphere among the colonists, where a handshake and a person’s word were often as good as a done deal or a contract. “The Reade papers on cosmology were an interesting study when I went through the academy. While I tend to focus on quantum physics and mechanics, my temporal mechanics classes had your father come up more than once,” he said breaking into a pleased smile. “Pleased to meet ya. How are ya,” he asked, then gestured to the lab’s replicator. “Can I get ya anything?”
