She smirked. “They do tend to be pretty thorough, but sometimes small things, especially if they were fairly recent, can escape notation.” She pulled up his file and skimmed his medical record quickly. She noted the multiple fractures but nothing too recent and nothing else she should be concerned about.

Leah grabbed the scanner. “I’m just going to run a scan and see where we are at,” she said, passing the device over him in a smooth and well practiced motion, before she looked over the results. “You been on a mix of assignments. Do you like being on ships?” she asked.

He held still during the scan, which showed nothing out of the ordinary… A general lack of enough sleep, but nothing that would push the boundaries of being in shape for duty. “Yeah, I prefer ships…” James grinned at the thought. “Nothing against dry dock duty, but give me a ship any day. Can’t beat the feeling of a warp core vibrating the ol’ deck plates.” He had to stop himself from expounding on the virtues of the Independence class ships, which he admired greatly. “Vulcan was an interesting place to work though, real different, those Vulcans…” He looked up at her, smiling. “You must like patching folks up.. Seen much action on the Sentinel?”

She wobbled her head. “I’m still fairly new here myself, so just the usual illnesses and random injuries. But I’m also the mental health care provider here, so I split my time doing both. I was on Earth at Starfleet Medical before here, but before I joined Starfleet, I was working in an ER on Aldebaran Three. Now there I was doing a lot of pathing up!” she said with a laugh. His scans looked good, so more than anything now she just wanted to make sure his transition was a smooth one.

“Interestin’…” He replied thoughtfully. “I’ve never been to Aldebaran.” James glanced at the readout on the nearby panel. “So am I ship shape, Doc?” Beyond the normal awkwardness of meeting new people, he didn’t seem all that discomfited. If anything, he was more at ease than he had been previously. Which was interesting, because doctors usually made him a bit standoff-ish.
