(This takes place a few weeks ago, hard timeline tbd later.)James Franklin tugged on the hem of his freshly pressed red shirt, wishing he’d opted for the far more comfortable duty jumpsuit. With a quiet sigh of exasperation, he moved down the corridor confidently, nodding to several crew members as they passed. The pleasant feeling of the deck plates humming beneath his feet kept him in good spirits. He’d grown disquieted with the silence of planetside ground beneath his feet these last years. The Sickbay doors slid open before him, as the electronic bosun’s whistle sounded, and he stepped into the bay looking around. Not seeing anyone at the moment, he busied himself examining the nearby panels. He wasn’t interested in the information they displayed, merely that they were in good working condition. The engineer part of himself was difficult to turn off, especially when he wasn’t quite comfortable. Which, he never was during physicals. James had grown used to the onboarding process, of course, but that didn’t mean he had to enjoy every part of it. He’d rather be down in engineering with a tool in hand…

She watched him for a few moments ad then smirked. “Avoidance or curiosity?” Leah called out from the nearest biobed where she had just treated a sprained ankle.
Hart gestured to the panels and James himself. She was quite a bit shorter than him, and her white jumpsuit didn’t hide her unexpectedly muscular build. Her brown hair was up in a tidy ponytail ,and as she gazed him her brown eyes were warm and reassuring, despite the teasing.

He turned to her, not quite startled. “Mostly avoidance, I think..” James managed a slight grin, just a bit sheepish in nature. “I’m here for my physical, if you have an opening.” He considered offering to come back later, but didn’t. The woman before him seemed genuinely warm, which wasn’t the case with most medical staff, in his experience. Remembering not to stare, he glanced around the sickbay, taking it in, since it was his first time here.

“We have space and time, don’t you worry,” she said. Moving to the nearest free biobed, she gave it a pat. “Come on over.” Her voice had the hint of a Spanish accent, but also something else.
“I’m Leah Hart. I’m a Nurse Practitioner, so I can handle your physical.” Her extra training meant that unless there was something rather unusual, she didn’t need a physician to sign off on the physical as well.
“Anything I should know about that isn’t in your records?” Leah asked him, pulling up his file on the display.

“Great, thanks.” He said, hefting himself onto the indicated biobed. “James Franklin,” He said, smiling with a hint of shyness. “It’s nice to meet you, Leah.” Taking a moment to adjust his position on the bed, he answered her question, more than a hint of Oklahoma drawl in his speech. “I don’t think they left anything out… you know how those personnel officers are.” James laughed quietly.

She smirked. “They do tend to be pretty thorough, but sometimes small things, especially if they were fairly recent, can escape notation.” She pulled up his file and skimmed his medical record quickly. She noted the multiple fractures but nothing too recent and nothing else she should be concerned about.
Leah grabbed the scanner. “I’m just going to run a scan and see where we are at,” she said, passing the device over him in a smooth and well practiced motion, before she looked over the results. “You been on a mix of assignments. Do you like being on ships?” she asked.
OOC: Scan results, please?
~Leah Hart, NP
He held still during the scan, which showed nothing out of the ordinary… A general lack of enough sleep, but nothing that would push the boundaries of being in shape for duty. “Yeah, I prefer ships…” James grinned at the thought. “Nothing against dry dock duty, but give me a ship any day. Can’t beat the feeling of a warp core vibrating the ol’ deck plates.” He had to stop himself from expounding on the virtues of the Independence class ships, which he admired greatly. “Vulcan was an interesting place to work though, real different, those Vulcans…” He looked up at her, smiling. “You must like patching folks up.. Seen much action on the Sentinel?”
