Onboarding: Time to go through it again

The Lexington had left him at Starbase K7 nearly a week ago, his orders and been delayed for no reason. He sat staring out the observation window looking at the Sentinel wondering what life would be like this time around. He had spent most his time here staring out at the ship, contiplating his future. It was always a challenge being around new people, most avoided him, others? well they were unpleasant in one way or another. No matter how controlled he was, There was always someone , normally multiple someone’s that wanted more. Today was different though, today his orders had cleared, he mistakenly packed them though and now could not remember the name of the Yeoman who was to meet him at the docking port.
As he stood waiting he tried to manage and control his nature, he did not want to start off having to drive someone way again. On the outside his calm monk like poise gave none of his uncertainty away. Those who walked by and did so close enough would feel a warmth and peace that they could not really explain and it would leave as quick as it came. A few would look back, or smile as they approached, he would nod ever so slightly but carefully monitored his body language and response to not send signals that might trigger unwanted interaction. He waited, his bag at his feat his arms and hands tucked neatly be hind his back.

Rand hurried theough the station. A last minute assignment had been placed wirh the Sentinel. Given the problems the ship was having, Rand had to go onto the station. She didn’t mind, but she had had to track someone down to manually open the docking hatch. She was moving a quick pace to make it on time.
Rand had never met a Deltan before. She had seen them when she had served here under Captain Jamson, but never met them. Their culture intrigued her. They were so relaxed and comfortable in their own skin. Or from afar they seemed so.
Rand suffered from extreme social anxiety, which made their ease in themselves enviable. She spotted the man right away and approached him. She took a deep breath and schooled her expression to the utmost professionalism. “Lt. Dovek, I am Lt. Farquharson, Yeoman from the Sentinel.”
