Hugh kept tugging on his uniform; he finally was wearing the red uniform the had been praying for for so many years. Since graduating the Academy, it had been a whirlwind affair getting from Earth to he but finally he was ready to get to the ship, his new home, and waited patiently for the Yeoman that he was told to meet. Shrugging off the looks that some of the female officers gave him as his piercing blue eyes scanned the area waiting he thought, ‘I hope this first interaction goes well’

MacClure, Engineering

All new crew members waiting to board the Sentinel were reporting to docking hatch 3 on Starbase K7.

Waiting by the hatch was a young Yeoman, by the rank of junior Lt, in an immaculate dress style command yellow uniform. Her knee-high black boots shined in the artificial light. Her red hair was twisted and pinned into an elegant french twist. There was a plaid sash pinned to her left shoulder and tucked into her belt along her back. A large bulky PaDD hung from a strap across her shoulders, a communicator was clipped to her belt and there was a stack of the bulky PaDDs on a small table next to her. She was checking in all the new crew members.

Yeoman Rand

Hugh hurried to the Yeoman and said, “Ensign Hugh MacClure reporting to board the USS Sentinel.” Hugh was excited and nervous at the same time.

MacClure, Engineer

The woman looked up with a welcoming smile. “Welcome aboard, ensign.” She held out a data disk, “You’ll find a map of the ship, your initial duty roster, as well as your schedule time with MCPO Johansson, our Chief Engineer, and your appointment with Lt. Hart, our counseling officer. There is a schedule with social activities, and the menu offered in the galley for the month. Chef Gorshin is excellent and very attentive. If you have any requests or dietary restrictions, there is a form on the disk for you to fill out and send to him.”

“Your quarters are on deck 8, foreward port, berth 821. The docking hatch is on deck 9. There are five turbolifts around the central core of the ship that span the height of Sentinel. All crew recreation can be found on deck 9 with the exception of the gym that is on deck 8.” She reached into a bin beside her for a communicator and made a note on her PaDD. “This communicator is yours for the duration of your service on board. If you have any personal weapons, please check them now with the security officer,” she nodded to a Lt standing on the other side of the hatch. “It will be logged and returned after it has been cleared.”

Yeoman Rand

Hugh noticed that Rand was very efficient, he hoped to not let her or anyone on the ship down. “No Ma’am,” Hugh replied, ” I d’ not have any personal weapons wit me.” Hugh looked at the schedule and saw it was going to be a fun day moving between departments and getting acclimated to the ship.

MacClure, Engineering

The yeoman smiled, “We try to make the transition on board as easy as possible. If you will sign here to confirm you are boarding,” the yeoman turned her PaDD around and held out the stylus for MacClure.

“Medical is on deck 9. Go through the airlock and turn right. They are waiting for you. Medical will be on the inside hull. If you have any personal medical equipment or medications you will check those with them. SCPO Johansson’s office is on deck 12 aft to the port side past main engineering. The galley and rec room are to the left of the airlock here on deck 9. ” She glanced over her PaDD again. “And that is everything. If you need any help to hesitate to ask. Welcome aboard.”

Yeoman Rand

Hugh signed the PaDD and replied, “Thank you Ma’am.” and walked onto the Ship in awe of what adventures were about to begin.
