SNIP

IC:
The ensign would find auxiliary control to be a suitable work station - but would also find an alert waiting. Someone had checked on the same systems locations as the Ensign - but had somehow managed to delay the alert long enough to not give away who he or she was. Whoever it was knew that someone was digging into the computer systems, and was monitoring specific types of systems access.

Kovan swore under his breath. Their spy was clever he’ll give them that but not smart enough to completely avoid detection. Far too impaitent for the game of ‘I know that they know that I know that they know’ he needed another option. What would he do in the Spy’s shoes? Hacking into the system or otherwise trying to access it would be stupid at this point. Kovan’s trap code was still in place. A few checks confirmed as much. Since subtly was out he made the code blatant and stronger.

Now what would I do? When the autopilot stops working you go to manual. The communications systems itself. That was the one place on the ship where the comms controls were designed to always work. “Captain, requesting permission to leave for the communications systems. Our spy tried to access the comms systems and failed. He won’t try remote access again.”

Ens. ch’Sirhc, Engineering & Communications Officer

Rende nodded. “Take someone from security with you.” Rende tapped her comms and sent a message to Lt. Anders to have someone meet ch’Sirhc at comm control.

Anders recieved after a few seconds and with the CO’s permision, started to plan to make own way to meet with ch’Sirhc at comm control.

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-

Kovan logged out of his console and made for the comm control. He stopped to slip into the biohazard gear, doing a rush job because of impatience. That spy could already be at the location and doing who knows what to the system. He moved quickly. Time was of the essence.

Bump for GM

The corridors were eerily empty except for the echo of the security patrols on each deck. They stopped ch’Sirhc when they saw him. “Ensign, we’re under quarantine. Where are headed and why?”

EvilJen, DDoSFEO

Kovan scowled but kept his tone cool in his reply, “I’ve got permission from the captain to head to the communication’s system. I’m supposed to meet up with a security escort along the way.” They didn’t have time for this! Their spy could already be attempting manual access as this very moment.

The delay was indeed giving Nevor time to complete his work - although he didn’t know that the crew was so close to finding him out. He had no idea that the captain was actively observing the junction where he was working, or that Engineering and Security had already deduced his plan of action. He worked much more quickly at this point, all attempts at subterfuge tossed aside for the sake of expediency. This communications relay was the end point for his mission - as long as he completed the tasks at hand. With no programming able to actively block a hard connection, Nevor was breaking through Starfleet’s computer security at a blazing pace, getting the information that he needed from the Starbase databases loaded onto his handheld device.

Nevor could only hope that the data would compile and resolve in time for him to send it to his compatriots.

The captain’s voice crackled over his personal communicator, [O]Kovan, move it, he’s there, now, at junction 29.[C] Security should have met up with him by now.

Cpt. Asam, CO

Roman raced down the hall, towards junction 29. Where is he? He kept moving down the hall, quick as he could, until he saw who he was looking for.

~ Cmdr Alden, XO/CSO

OOC: Cross posting

Marcus bolted to stay in step with the XO, ‘On your right Commander,’ he said quickly, tightening the grip on his phaser.

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-

In the Corridor
Anders and Alden came up on Ensign ch’Sirhc just as the Security patrol was trying to ascertain whether Kovan’s story checked out. Almost like the scene outside Stellar Cartography, the Security patrol, upon seeing their Chief, addressed Anders.

“Chief - we were just about to call you or the Captain. This Ensign says there’s an assignment from the Captain to go to the Communications array, and there’s a Security detail coming. Can you corroborate his story?”

“Aye lad,” Marcus replied, slightly out of breath, “Got my best people on their way!”

At Junction 29
Nevor exhaled heavily, not realizing that he had been holding his breath until he almost passed out from oxygen deprivation. He was unaware that Captain Asam was watching, but was finding the speed of data transfer to be slow - painfully slow. He muttered to himself.

“This shouldn’t be taking this long.”

What he didn’t know was that Starbase personnel were carefully watching all communications transmissions from the Sentinel. While Nevor had managed to spoof the systems and fool the Starbase observation team, the added observation was still causing some bandwidth delays. His mobile computing device was compiling everything as quickly as it could, but as the Romulan characters indicated progress, they weren’t changing at the rate that Nevor was anticipating.

“I can send this once it’s done - just finish!”

He hadn’t intended to yell, but then again, he wasn’t expecting anybody to be listening to him. He also wasn’t expecting anyone to be present in the inter-deck access areas. The Romulan had no idea how small his window for escape was becoming - if it would even exist by the time he accomplished the purpose of his mission.

[O]Asam to ch’Sirhc and security. He’s needed in Stellar Cartography now. I believe he will have better luck with his assignment there.[C]

Cpt. Asam, CO

Kovan scowled upon hearing the change of plans. Their spy could be sending out a message right now while they waited around doing nothing, “I have strong reason to believe our spy will be trying to manually access the comms system. Remote access failed so his only option now is to go manual.” Someone needed to get to the comms relay before it was too late.

Ens. ch’Sirhc, Engineering & Communications Officer

There was a pause, [O]Go. He’s thete. I can see him on the feeds. We’ll deal with the other after. Asam out.[C]

Cpt. Asam, CO

As the rest of the Security detail arrived through the doors, phasers raised in a defensive position, Marcus began relaying orders, “You three stay here and reinforce this group in case we have more ‘guests’ show up, I have a date at the comms relay!” Marcus bolted towards the turbolift, determination on his face.
