Rand kept sickbay and did two things she had never done before. She defied a direct order and then told a blatant lie, on purpose.

Instead of going back to her quarters, Rand defied her medical order and went to the biology lab. She straightened her uniform and held her PaDD to give her hands something to do. She walked in looking as she always did. She didn’t head for Nibbles’ cage. She spared a glance for Mushu and then looked around for Franks. She saw him and walked over. “Lt. Franks do you have a moment?”

“Of course,” said the Science officer, giving Rand a friendly smile. “What do you need today, Rand?”
