Side Sim: Forced Relaxation

Posted by Ensign Kovan ch’Sirhc (Engineering & Communications Officer) in Side Sim: Forced Relaxation
He wasn’t sulking, dammit. Also, when was it a crime to work three shifts in a row? Since when did anyone get their panties in a twist over extra shifts? Kovan didn’t need down time to relax. He needed work to keep him busy and out of trouble. Forced 24-hour rest leave had to be against Fleet regulations. Well, as far as Kovan knew it wasn’t against any regulations and he would know having memorized most of them. Even if it was what was he going to do about it? Pride wouldn’t let him take the issue to Rand or Roman. That’s not something a man does.

Kovan threw himself into the closest open chair in the lounge. Twenty four hours of forced R&R. Just what the hell was he supposed to do? For the past few weeks he existed on a tight schedule of wake up, eat, work, eat, sleep. Not a single free moment for dreaded idleness or disastrous leisure. Purposefully working himself into blissful, peaceful exhaustion and now it was gone. Ruined. Kovan knew himself. He knew the kind of terrible things he was capable of when the monotony of life aboard a starship sunk into his bones.

Twenty-four hours. Might as well be a count down to his own damnation. Kovan rested his elbows on the table while his leg bounced with agitation. Art and writing could only keep him so busy. Yet he wouldn’t dare turn to those outlets. Not while in this kind of mood. The art he created when like this was laced with poisonous vulnerability. He could would out in the gym until he nearly faints with exhaustion. No, Roman frequented the gym and would put a stop to that right away. There has to be something he can do to pass the time as painlessly and safely as possible.
