USS Sentinel

Main Sim - DS K-5 - Comm Call

[snip]

Once Shirley had done so the display on her work desk lit up and showed Hailey on the screen, based on the window behind her it was a similar late hour on Earth at Starfleet HQ. She was a mid-late 40s aged woman, dark rich brown hair, short cropped, with a deep brown skin tone. =/\= Thank you Captain, my mother always taught me when you speak to someone you should look them in the eyes, to give your full attention. =/\= She said while inserting a data chip to her desk which beeped over the comms and then a side window soon popped up on Shirley’s screen.

It showed three planets each in a different but nearby system, =/\= From left to right, these are the colonies of Vok III, Ruff II, and Quincey II, they are roughly speaking all within a light year or so of each others different systems. Each colony is a hug of trade, mining and the like, but also having other specialized functions which are then provided in equal measure to the other two. Any spare goods the three colonies cant use once traded to the other two are then loaded onto cargo ships and traded to the Federation. All three colonies are primarily human, settled back in 2190 by three major families of the time seeking to be a bit more independent then other colonies from the Federation and other major powers at the time. In 2215 though increased pirate raids forced them to join the Federation formally for protection and here is where our current establishment exists today..=/\= She said.

=/\= As you know every year a Starfleet vessel must certify all major colonial leaders and such to be both mentally and physically sound of mind and body. Your mission is to go for Vok III and perform this duty on the three major family leaders there. While there you will likely be called to provide aide in other matters for the colony in repairs, or such. Provide what aide you can as requested.=/\= She went on.

The screen then shifted showing a common Orion fast raider ship on the screen, =/\= Our latest intelligence has shown there is a high probability that either a pair or possibly small group of Orion pirate raiders may also be in the area, keep yourselves alert for those. Our tactical assessment is even if upwards of 5 of these ships are operating together you should not have too much trouble taking care of them. Ideally Starfleet Intelligence would like one or more captured for information gathering purposes as would all three colonies like to prosecute them for their crimes over the years. But do what you need to do to defend yourself and the colonies and their shipping lanes if any show up. Any questions? =/\= She asked.

=/\= Understood Commodore. We will make our way there. Please send over their scouting report from intelligence on the Orion’s ship systems when you have a moment. I need to see exactly what we are up against to ensure that we handle them efficiently if the situation presents itself. Aside from that, I have no requests or questions at this time. =/\=

  • Shirley Rogers

A moment later there was a beep showing a series of data files had been uploaded to the ship’s computer stores. =/\= Already done Captain. =/\= The Commodore said.

A brief glance at just their titles read as follows:

1) Vok III, Ruff II, Quincey II Colony Statuses
2) Orion Lighting Class Blockade Runner/Raider intelligence ship profiles
3) Federation shipping trade lane intelligence for the Vok/Ruff/Quincey colony sector

She could of course review them each now, but probably it would be more efficient to just wake up her staff, brief them and go over it all together. After a pause the Commodore again spoke, =/\= If there are no other questions Captain I would advise you to get your staff briefed, and ship underway ASAP. I know it is a late hour right now, but this mission is of a high priority for all in this region right now. =/\= She said.
