Roman was distracted from his paperwork, watching her. She really was perfect for him. Loved his job nearly as much as he did, didn’t mind him talking about it all the time or staying to finish things. Helped him with the few parts he didn’t like, all this paperwork. His look was not quite his robin hood look, but something similar, certainly one of love and adoration. Normally he’d try not to look at her like that, not in the lab, but honestly between the proposal plans and his thoughts he hadn’t realized he was doing it.~ Roman
Nibbles was taking an awfully long time with her little ritual. Rand reached across herself for the note pad kept next to her cage and jotted down her observations and what she’d done with the mouse that morning. The lab seemed quieter, a bit empty this morning. It took Rand a minute to realize it was Mr. Wyvern’s absence. There was always the soft sliding of scales when he moved. He’d also not lunged at her when she came in that morning. She honestly hadn’t thought she would miss it.
She glanced around the lab, while she attempted to be patient with Nibbles, and her gaze landed on Roman. Why was he looking at her like that? She flushed hotly, not expecting it. They were in the lab and on duty! He never did that. Oh no....was he sick? She didn’t think so. She ducked her head (but with her hair pulled back it didn’t help) and almost fell off the stool turning back around. She stood up to cover her clumsiness. That wasn’t fair, he wasn’t allowed to change the rules. Why was he looking at her like that, here?
It was time for Nibbles to stop. She needed to get her work done. That’s what she was supposed to be doing. She reached over for one of Nibbles’ favorite berries, an oval shaped pinkish orange one, and stuck it in front of her nose. Nibbles grabbed it and ran off with it. Rand closed and locked the lid, removed the sleeve and then went to wash her hands.

Rand caught him looking and by her expression, he must’ve been giving her one of those looks. Embarrassed, he glanced around the lab quickly himself, and then turned back to his paperwork as she washed her hands. He could tell he’d completely flustered her, the way she’d nearly fallen off the stool, ducking her head so her hair, tied back unfortunately for her, would hide her face. It made him feel bad, just a little, but that was outweighed by how cute she’d looked, her cheeks flushing, desperately trying to hide her face. He had to smile to himself into his paperwork.

Rand sat back down at the console, not glancing at Roman. She simply didn’t know what to make of it. That was one of the reasons she had always liked helping in the labs, the rules and expectations were exceptionally clear, no room to wonder or second guess. Now he was acting all weird! Rand didn’t know how she was supposed to react to that. So her fall back was always, make a hasty exit. So with that in mind she finished her reports and for some reason Roman was taking an unusually long time with his. It always took him awhile because 1 he was thorough and 2 he hated it. She started helping with his reports, she always did. Apparently she was equally distracted because she glanced at the chronometer in the lab and she had about 10 minutes before her morning meeting with Rogers. His reports started popping up on the PaDD next to him for him to sign in a rapid fire manner.
Rand
Roman signed the reports as they came in as quickly as he could. He was still distracted, and working slower than usual. But he noticed the time and didn’t take too long to finish the work she needed done now, so she could make her usual meeting with the Captain in time. The rest he could finish after she left. He smiled at her again, unable to help it.

Rand smiled back at him but looked confused, and she was not going to ask him, in the middle of the lab, what was going on. She grabbed the final reports and left. She had several onboarding orientations that day, so she wouldn’t be in the lab again that day, only to pick up the evening reports. But Roman’s odd behavior was on her mind all day.
Rand
Roman didn’t see her the rest of the day, but that wasn’t that unusual to him. He saw her when she picked up the evening reports and then stayed in the lab until she came after her own shift. He had a vague idea what to do about his proposal but he still hadn’t decided when. It helped him to just focus on work for a little while.

Rand appeared after her rounds. She hesitated before entering the lab and felt foolish. Tucking her hands behind her back she walked in nodding to a couple of the officers and made her way over to the table where Roman was working. “Hi.”
Rand
“Miranda!” Roman stood when she spoke, having missed her come in. “Just a minute and I’ll clean up what I’m doing and we can get dinner,” he said, shuffling away the paperwork on his desk. “One of my officers finished a project, I’ve got all the final reports to go over.”
