“Thank you both, very much. I must speak to my traveling companions first.” She didn’t want to refuse their offer to attend but she didn’t want to accept without talking to the rest of the landing party. She bowed her head slightly. “Thank you again.”

Nodding in reply Alin and the other acolyte turned away and returned to their duties......

Rand moved back to the main group Redshirt Richards going with her. She kept her voice low to avoid anyone overhearing. “Apparently all the local jobs are controlled by what the acolyte called the local burgomasters’ family. All other jobs are handed out based on skill and training. The temple is offering a service on the local happenings and going ons. They also suggested that the local Inn, the Winner’s Chalice, is a good place to find information.”

Richards nodded, “Both would be good places to get more information. But seeing as how the locals don’t particularly care for the temple folks, perhaps it would be wise to appear to be in disagreement over attending the service. I can go with the yeoman to the temple and the rest can go to the tavern.” Richards punctuated his words with angry hand motions, appearing to passersby that they were in some sort of disagreement.

Rand and Richards went to the service, but there was no information there to be gleaned about their mission. Nor did the rest of the team have any luck what-so-ever at the small Inn. A check-in with the ship told them there were no more warp signatures appearing. Rand thought that was probably a ‘yet.’ If it was someone experimenting, and she had never heard of a warp signature occurring naturally. Of course she was no engineer so she had no idea. It was deemed that they would return to the ship. They found an isolated area and were quickly whisked away in a swirl of lights back to the ship. Rand went to leave the transporter room and NE Bubbles shook his head, “No you, En. You’re joining Cmdr Alden’s team. Village called Valiki near a valley lake. The team is currently still out in the woods near a clearing. Their movement pattern seems to indicate they are investigating the area, but we haven’t had any direct contact back yet.” Rand nodded, “Give me 5.” She grabbed what looked like a rugged knapsack and left. She got all kinds of looks from the science officers when she entered the biology lab to talk to NL Franks. Then she was back and nodded to Bubbles. “You’re sure it’s the team you’re reading and not locals?” She really didn’t like the idea of being dropped down, alone, in the middle of an alien planet. Bubbles nodded and then Rand was gone in a swirl of lights.
