“Thank you.” Rand was quiet after that, the combination of medications finally putting her truly under. Shrine stepped back in to check her. “That was kind of you. The medical staff thanks you. She drove us all insane this morning with that communicator of hers, PaDD and the computer. Had people from all different departments running in and out of here like it was an admiral’s office.”

“She’s always running around the ship like that, I guess that’s what happens when everyone else has to do the running,” Scott said to the nurse, standing up. “I have to go, I guess I’ll be around later, huh?” She said and then she smiled.

Rand had endured another two rounds with the bone fuser by 0545 the next morning. Cmdr Alden had caught her trying to sneak out of sickbay in the middle of the night, and she’d reinjured the foot so she’d be in sickbay even longer. But he hadn’t told on her. He had even stayed while she had another session with the bone fuser though she’d tried to get him to leave - he hated sickbay. After she’d slept all day though she’d refused to take any more meds until Alden convinced her to take it before he left. She secretly wished he’d come back before his shift, but that was selfish, if he was actually able to sleep he didn’t need to get up early to come see her. But now she was awake and it was almost 0600 and she’d get to work. As long as Scott didn’t forget.
