Corinne shook her head. “No, can’t say I ever did. I spent most of my time either with my studies or helping out on the farm. And then later with ballet. Then I went to Academy and was focused on all of that. But it does seem like it would be rather exhilarating, and maybe peaceful in its own way. You can’t fight nature there. You have to work with it. Or so I understand…”

“It’s more about understanding just how far you can push your limits with nature,” he explained and smiled, then swung his leg over the horses back and slid to the ground. “It’s partly a battle, partly a partnership. You never let yourself think you have come to an agreement because nature will simply change the terms of the agreement. You get it right, and it is breathtaking how free and powerful you can feel, even while knowing you are tiny and insignificant at the exact same moment. There is nothing quite like it.” Giving Cash a rub along his neck, he turned and began to walk slowly towards the water, watching the sand around him and picking up the odd sea shell.

Smiling at the Captan’s poetic side, Cori slipped off Lacey and led the mare towards the shore. “I used to sneak away here when things got really stressful. Especially after my parents died. I never spent a lot of time on or in the water, but a good many hours spent on the beach. Usually reading and studying. I wasn’t going to get into Starfleet by my pointe shoes,” she said with a grin.
